yes, that's what I'm wondering too? Whichever dipswitch sets it (Dip#3??) from Fast to Normal speed you could try changing it to the opposite setting and see what the difference is. That's what I was hoping to find out from your dipswitch chart sticker on the front of the mpu metal tray.

The SP731 document doesn't define what Fast and Normal speed is. Maybe someone that's been around S+ machines for a long time can say.

EDIT - maybe dip#4 is for setting the game speed from Fast to Normal ?

731 should not do it either. Autospin is enabled by default on it too I would think, just can't turn it off looks like. If it wasn't enabled it wouldn't spin after pressing max bet. I think dip 4 on some boards also controls the Bill to Hopper setting....i def dont want to put in a $20 bill and it look to pay me out 80 quarters...lol

Yep I think that is what will happen! That's what I was talking about happening on 1271 when left on while psr states dips do nothing.

In the SP731 document the paragraph that talks about the mpu board dipswitch lists the things the dipswitch controls. They usually list these options in order from dipswitch position 1 to 8, that's why I though #3 was for Fast or Normal game speed.

SP731 mpu dipswitch options (I think):

1- max hopper pay
2- max hopper pay
3- reel spin sound
4- fast or normal game speed
5- progressive enable
6- high/low or alternating progressive
7- double or single progressive
8- link or standalone progressive

If you read thru the SP731 document you will see that it gives more details on what some of the dipswitch positions do. But I don't know if it is entirely correct.

I just read that in the SP731 doc and edited my post above to reflect it. What's your understanding of what Fast and Normal game speed does?

This looks like it is saying that dipswitch #4 is for setting the game speed.

But on this machine with SP731 dip#4 could be something else, the PSR says it sets game speed. I'd flip dip#4 to the opposite setting, insert only a $1 bill and see what happens.

Plus, earlier Jim said all his S+ machines have SP731 and he sets dip 1-4 to ON.

We need to know how the dipswitch on his mpu is set. I can't make out the dipswitch positions in the photo. If dip#4 is OFF then I'd try setting it to ON.
