Coin accepting issue
« on: July 04, 2019, 05:59:16 AM »
I hav a s plus triple double diamond slot
Got the dreaded error code 12 replaced battery
Got EPROMs for clearing ram and setting d/m
New sp731 game prom
Everything reset  test credits worked fine in fact hit 30 credits able to play them
But... The machine will not accept quarters  drops straight to the payout tray
Also the yellow flashing light does not shut off when door is locked
I am new at this ...the quarter is set right... But I do notice on the left side of it is a six pin with a 3 pin harness in the bottom three pins ? But again I have never touched this so that is how I bought it
Very frustrating have used this machine for years without any issues until now HELP

The light will continue flashing until you play a game.
Try turning the sensitivity control on the coin comparator fully counterclockwise.
If none of that works you may need a replacement coin comparator, they do go bad.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Yes playing the game after door shut does not stop the yellow light
I did turn it al the way counterclockwise
Also the lights on the front top and bottom glass enclosures are not lit  they used to be before battery died

I absolutely hate that some people put 3-pin Molex's on 6-pin coin comparitors?   :hissyfit:

WHY? It's not DESIGNED to be that way!

oh well, get yourself the correct harness by placing a WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG.

I'm sure someone will have one for ya!

Get yourself a spare coin comparitor at the same time...always good to have  spare.

I'm going to replace the coin comparator but this machine worked with the three pin since I purchased it 12 years ago now the bill acceptor does not work either and being a novice at repairs what would I even look for on this issue

Welcome to NLG. I am the to he one who directed you here. I sent you a pic of my phone number through ebay messages but instead of taking the hint, you persisted to have this conversation about how to diagnose your machine through ebay messages. It makes no sense if the candle continues to flash after the door is closed & maiden spin. That leads me to believe that it's not recognizing when the door is closed. If it won't accept coins & the BV doesn't work, how do you get 30 credits aside from opening the door & pressing the button on the coin optic? When you close the door those test credits should disappear. If not that's another thing pointing to door optics. When you close the door insert coin should light up if it's ready to play as well. The fluorescent lights not working has nothing to do with the battery that died. Most likely needs starters, they are cheap & easy to replace.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Pressed test credits  while door was still open hit the spin button and hit 30credits which it registered
Closed the door and play like normal except the yellow light stayed on and flashed
when the door closes the cash/credit button is the only button lit and it flashes continually

It appeared "normal" to you to play off the 30 credits but in all actuality, you were playing off the 30 "Service Credits" you put onto it when the door was open.

The door optics never returned machine the to Game mode when you physically closed the door or you would of had zero credits.

In other words, the MPU never saw the door "closed" - that is why the candle is still flashing and still in "Service Mode".

Check or replace both the door emitter optics and the cabinet receiver optics to get the machine back to Game mode - "live".

Replaced the door optics since yellow light continues to flash when door is closed
But I can't get both eyes to meet  cannot figure out how to attach so this happens or is it supposed to happen ?
