S5500 Black and White will not register coins.
« on: February 01, 2020, 03:35:52 PM »
I had an error code 31, and was able to determine there were some coins jammed in the hopper.  That has now cleared and there are just two "dots" in the Win Paid screen.  Coin in says 2 and credits says 0.  (PHOTO ATTACHED)  When i try to insert a quarter, they just call right through.  I am struggling with how to fix and/or what to try next.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Is the insert coin  light  flashing?  If it is, try this.  Try replacing the coin sample in the coin compatitor with a new coin.  Try adjusting the sensitivity on the comparitor fully  CCW.

I do not see an "Insert Coin Light" anywhere?  Am I missing something?  I did replace the coin sample (quarter) and still no help.

Insert coin is on the reel glass. Two dots means the door has just been closed.
Where is the coin falling to, the outside coin tray or into the hopper?

I still do not understand about the Insert Coin Light.  I have attached a photo of the front of the machine.   The coin is falling into the coin tray.

If your lamps worked to the right of the 25 cent center medallion the window will read "insert coin".
The window on the left side will read "coin accepted".

The Insert Coin bulb may be burned out. #73 mini wedge bulb. Can you post a picture of the comparitor?

Good News and Bad News.  When I took a pho of the Coin Compirator (attached), I noticed a wire looked loose (black bottom wire).  I re-attached the wire and now the machine is working fine.  I am still confused about the "Insert Coin" light.  I do not even know where this is.  I do not even remember this light.  Machine is working, so not important, but I an curious.  THANKS for the help getting my machine working.

This is the location of your "Insert Coin" light bulbs. They are a #86 wedge bulb.
