You probably didn't need to do the ram clear after the battery replacement unless you were stuck in the "error 61 loop."
Better to wait here for some help. It will be easier here than the manual.

After the ding ... push and release the white self test button. If the machine has/had an internal bill  validator it is located by the on/off switch or just behind the housing that holds the switch. A non-embeded bill validator the button is usually in the row of harnesses going to the MPU.

Today I replaced MPU board, display, power supply ( main & bill validator ), mother board, then I safe RAM CKEARED it. It came up with all the correct prompts, then I did the bill validator chip and when I got down to the 61 I push the white button got 61-1 close the door and it would not reset it locked up and I can’t get any further. I bypass the reset key switch in case it’s bad still locked on 61-1. Any help would be appreciated. THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊

You're not supposed to bypass the reset switch - you need it to get past the [61-1].

Instead of all that other stuff, get the jackpot reset working right or leave it separated and momentarily touch the tabs only.

The reset switch cannot be in a "closed" state all the time....it is a "momentary" switch only.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, i finally figured out how to download it. I will go to this first before bothering you folks. Take Care. I replaced the reset switch with another identical one. I’m getting closer to fixing it. It appears to be the windings on the power supply transformer. Legs 8&9 drop to 2.8 volts under load. I will send further info.

Here’s the latest, I replaced the transformer and the display lit up fine. I did my ram clear, and when I got to the end of doing the bill validator chip, I got to 61-1 close door hit reset key. It would not reset and then I lost the display again. What’s weird is I have 2 of these identical machines, and all the boards, etc work in one, but nothing works in the other. My hair has gone from gray to white on this nightmare. Any suggestions?

Sounds like something is shorting the transformer.

and all the boards, etc work in one, but nothing works in the other.
That's the clue right there....since you're using the same MPU, known good power supply, the problem is whittled down to three possible faults.
First one I would troubleshoot is the power supply harness that runs from the power supply box to the motherboard.
It could be arcing out inside the white 6-pin Molex housing on the motherboard.
With the power switch ON, wiggle that plug slightly upwards until you feel resistance with the reel baskets up on the reel shelf.
if you get power to the stepper motors and the reel glass display panel, you almost good to go.
The problem there is the female pins inside the Molex become oxidized and lose their grip on the motherboard's male pins.
It especially happens with the 2nd green ground pin and the 4th brown wired pin.
Pull that Molex off and turn it around...you may see that the Molex housing has become "browned" from the arcing that's happening inside of the pin housings.
The other thing that could be happening is is possible short under the motherboard from a foreign object such as a screw or coins. This was a problem and IT tried to fix it by adding some sponge material under the motherboard to stop screws from getting under there.
The last thing offhand that I can think of is a possible motherboard short from something laying on top of the motherboard. This doesn't happen too often because there IS a thin film to protect the motherboard traces from getting shorted out.
It's rare but it DOES happen.
The last thing I can think of is something on the MPU such as a triac is now out of specs and shorting out inside the IC component.
If I were to check the mother and the MPU for a short, I would follow the traces all the way from where it enters the motherboard pin to a triac.
I'm putting my money on the problem cabinet's power supply harness female pins and the motherboard's male pins being oxidized and burnt out..

I DO have a question though...why did you NOT send me a photo of the jackpot reset switch you modded?

it was just two wires hooked to the switch and ran out the bottom of the cabinet, that I touched together. then i just replaced the switch with spare. The  reason why I didn’t send pictures is I have Dementia and I didn’t remember how. Thank You for the help, I will research this.

Here’s the latest update on my S+ “ Display Dead “. I pulled up the motherboard from its mounting posts, and between the circuit board and the white insulation sheet was a CORROSIVE QUARTER shorting out under the circuit board. It appears to have been in there for a while. There were burnt ( BLACK ) places across the traces of the circuit board. I pulled it out, cleaned and re-soldered the entire board. After re-installing and putting the rest of the machine back together, I had a display and I finally finished my setup.

I would like to THANK ALL OF YOU, for your input.
I should have taken pictures of the board, SORRY.
