PE+ no green color on screen?
« on: September 05, 2014, 05:05:58 PM »
so now I got my PE+ up and running great the color is bugging me, in the menu you can change the background colors but when I go to green it does nothing. I read in a old slot mag that on the main board is q21 blue,q22green,q23red but  when i checked them they all looked and metered out good, (i did not pull them so the test might not be right) but what would cause the green not to work?

The green lead into the monitor not working right.  Test continuity on the harness from end to end.

If this helps, as you page through the self test menus, the screens immediately following the "SET BACKGROUND COLOR" screen are:

- Fullscreen red
- Fullscreen green
- Fullscreen blue
- White dots
- White hashmark lines

When you're on the fullscreen green page, is the monitor just black?  You could try leaving it on that screen and wiggling wires to find a loose connection.

Standard words of caution: CRT monitors pack a potentially deadly punch if you touch the wrong parts of them, even with the machine power off.  Use extreme caution when working on or around a live CRT monitor, and proper ESD procedures when working on an unplugged monitor.

you guys nailed it. it was the wiring from the 1492 monitor board to the plug on the back of the monitor the green wire pulled out of the pin, I couldn't tell by looking but when I put the meter on it it was open. Much better now, my settings are 0 red 0 green 3 blue now it looks normal.

Nice work.  The default setting is 0, 0, 2.  ...but set it to whatever makes you happy.
