It is not accepting $$ so I don't know.  It is a quarter machine.

Okay, you seem to know that the denomination is set in the options for a quarter...not just because of the label stuck on the reel glass right?

In Reply #8, the last thing you said is "the light went back off".
Which "light" are you referring to? The yellow bill denom light just above the bill slot?
You need to be very specific when you give information.
It will help us help you get your machine up and running the way you want.

Anyways, did you do the four things DB26 asked you to do in Reply #16?
I'm wondering if you are seeing any messages in the blue VFD display other than "Call Attendant"?

It accepted $1 gave 4 credits,  then says call attendant.
I opened the door,  closed the door then it made noise and was able to play.  But it shouldn't do that after putting $$ in.
Well below the limit of credits on the machine as well.

Sorry just realized there's is a page 2 for this topic conversation and can see the posts and my replys.

Yes I did everything he said don't see any issues.  But don't know how to run the auto config. I see the info for that, thanks.   I can turn the machine off, pull out and then put back in the bill acceptor,  but this is not fixing the problem.

So to recap the issue is the light will randomly come on for the bill acceptor and won't accept $$ .. if it randomly accepts which it did twice and only a $1 bill nothing else, the machine makes noise and then says call attendant and bill acceptor open.  I pulled the door latch on the side,  then put it right back to close and it seemed to get rid of the call attendant until I put 1 more dollar in... then like I said goes back to taking nothing.

Should I do the auto config or ??

Is there a switch on the cash can door? If so, bypass the switch. That maybe giving you all the grief.

Ah yes, good suggestion. I read too quickly and didn’t see that there’s a door open message.


I probably should have started this whole troubleshooting process by asking the most important question. Mainly, what messages are being shown on the blue VFD screen?


Here are a few photos of the cash can switch. You can attach the two wires together any way you’d like. Cut and twist, using a piece of metal to shove into each spade connector, etc.


I would also make sure the cash can is sitting in there correctly. I would pull it out and put it back in nice and firmly.

So I haven't looked into a by pass switch yet, but to be clear on what the message is... after it accepts $1  it goes back and forth from saying call attendant and bill validator stack open.

You still think it's a bypass switch?

You don’t know where the cash can door is? Look at my photos, it’s the door that gives you access to the cash can.

Open the main door and it’s on the bottom right hand side. Below the bill validator. The wires and switch will be attached to the door. Take the two wires and short them together permanently. You don’t need that switch for home use.

The reason your bills aren’t being accepted is because the machine thinks that little door is being opened. We need to trick your machine into thinking it’s closed. Permanently!

Someone has removed the cash can door and wiring.

Now the fun begins, you have to hunt down the original wiring that used to go there and see what the last person who had your machine did to it.


I highlighted your photo to show where it used to be. I also I included a photo oh what the wires look like, they are wrapped in a plastic protective coating.

It’s likely this is the cause of your error messages. Other problems could exist, but this one seems like a home run. I would wager that the previous owner removed the cash can door, bypassed the cash can switch, spliced those two wires together, and laid the wires in the back behind the bill validator / cash box assembly. After you bought it, maybe the move caused the wires to jostle around and unhook from each other slightly, which is causing your intermittent problem.

If you are in Southern California by any chance I’d be happy to come out and look at it for you. It should be a very easy fix.
