What now to try?
« on: April 05, 2024, 04:08:04 PM »
I understand two things when it comes to code 71. It can be either a door switch error or a reel error depending on machine (chip?) type. Everything that I have read so far tells me this. But for some reason, I can not keep the code 71 from tilting the machine. It does not happen all the time. There could be 5 game played to 100 before the machine tilts with code 71. It had to play better than this if it was in Vegas at one time. LOL

How can I wire the door switch (hinge) to by-pass it?

Things that I have done so far:  :banghead:

Removed and cleaned all old grease from the reel assembly and re-oiled with 3 in 1 oil. The two black oxide cross shafts that the linkage is mounted on do spin freely when you try to spin them with your fingers.
Installed new coil sleeves in the coil mechs. and used graphite inside the sleeves.
Rebuilt the reel readers. (Led and photo-transistor) Moving reels readers do not matter, the problem does NOT follow the reel reader.
Re-pinned all the connectors going to the MPU, I/O, Power supply, Reels and Reel control board.

One more thought....could it be the needle bearings in the reel wheels? The first one does wobble a little bit as does the second one. The third one seems to be pretty smooth. Can I change this out?
Please see the video and tell me what you think. https://youtube.com/shorts/h4BGw_iQY8A

Any suggestions or thoughts would be very much appreciated!

In between each reel there is an aluminum block that sort of looks like a star. at the top of that block is a small hole to allow you to lubricate the reel.

The 71 error means that the reel reader for reel #1 can not be read and this can be caused by a lack of lubrication of that reel

Yes sir, I have done that. I took a Q-tip with 3 in 1 and cleaned them till the Q-tip did not change color. I also rigged  up an 3 in 1 oil can with a tube to inject oil into the hole in the aluminum block. I can rock the reel and see the oil lightly squish out.

I tried something difference. I took the star aluminum block for reel 1 and moved it to reel 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 1. Now I am getting error code 72. I'm going to keep playing and see if it is constant tilting 72 or not.

Then again, it might just be my imagination.
