I think it is a PE+, I don't believe the regular PE would work with a bv.

i bought this IGT PE+ machine - must have been used in a State poker parlor - has a ticket printer instead of a hopper and the BV is archaic - the game is dead - has a ceronix monitor 1492H - I have a 1492G new chassis (posted question under monitors) -  picture of board attached - missing a data prom???
to replace the printer with a hopper - should just be a harness issue?   removing the BV just unplug?

Regarding removing printer/installing hopper: Darrell got some crazy ones like this 5-6 years ago. They were same thing, printers, no hoppers, either Idaho or Montana. From what he can remember, as long as they have a hopper track/slide, all that was needed to add the hopper was an S+ hopper plug/harness to plug into the motherboard.

And yah, just unplug the BV.

Not every PE+ game uses a DATA prom.  I'd be surprised to find a multi-game set for the PE+ that didn't, but you can't assume it won't work just because of the lack of a DATA prom.  Worst case you could install a known good PE+ chipset on there and be good to go.

The MG0xxx PE+ program files are "Multi-Game" PE+ style games.  There are machines out there with "Player's Choice" glass that are the same basic thing. The actual game name might be a jurisdiction thing.  I have seen MG0182 (different build then the one you stated), MG0183 and MG0252 archived and MG0252 is in MAME but not working right now.  Until now it wasn't known what CGxxxx set worked with the MG0182 set.

BTW: The MG0xxx game sets do NOT use the DATA rom and cannot be used with a Hopper. If you swap in a hopper the game will stall with "PRINTER ERROR" so you'll also need to swap in a different chipset if you want to use the machine with a hopper.

As far as I know the MG0182 chipset can be manually set to work with nickels or quarters.

Finally got this machine to run as designed - that is - with the ticket printer - once I got a good monitor chassis - game came up HOWEVER - it likes to print the meters whenever machine is powered up or door is opened - must have been a fun game for the operator.  External BV works too. NOW the reel fun begins - converting it to a coin in/out - have all the parts - I have another cpu which I tried and got cmos error.

NOW the reel fun begins - converting it to a coin in/out - have all the parts - I have another cpu which I tried and got cmos error.

A CMOS error is common when switching games, or changing MPU boards.  To get past it do the following:

(Disclaimer -- I don't know how your original Montana Choice is configured.  Since I'm not familiar with it, I can't promise you'll be able to get it back up and working if you switch to a different MPU board.  I would imagine it should work like any other PE+ game change, but I can't guarantee it.)

At the CMOS error, open the door.  Press and hold the small white Self Test button for at least five seconds.  Close the door.  Turn the jackpot reset key once and release.  You may get a different error, in which case repeat the process again (open door, self test button, close door).

Still working on this game - replaced the cmos on the mother board - - using the 5564 for the cmos on the cpu - using the montana chips - no data chip - I get a "RECOVERABLE CMOS ERROR"  can't find out what that means - in any case - I can't get into the setup screens - after all the clearing - and holding the jackpot switch at power up - I get a screen with some instructions - then it goes into PRINT METERS!!!! - the printer is disconnected - clearing doesn't seem to work with the chips in either board.  I have another set of chips for a regular multigame - both boards - clear - restart with game chip - press the test - get "door open - call attendant - cmos error" close door and turn key - nothing.  frustrating game to say the least.
