4 years later I am going to start work on this project again! (In a few months lol)


A lot has changed since I first started this project so a few things are going to change!




The game code will now be wrote in javascript running on node.js on a raspberry pi. This way I can also run the game in any browser in simulator mode! Also gives me easy multi channel audio and its fast and easy to update new code over either WiFi or Ethernet (which can also be used to connect the game to a server if needs be)


The DMD will be powered by a pinDMD2 www.pindmd.com (my other project) This will be connected to one of the raspberry pi's usb ports.


The biggest change is the driver board that controls all the lamps,reels,coin mech,switches etc.. First time round I did this on a FPGA but now micro controllers have really speeded up since! So I will be now using a PIC32 and will build a custom hardware driver board using smd components from scratch (not using pre-built modules)






I will post updates as I continue the project :)

What they made with the raspberry pi was a SAS interface, others around here have made SAS interfaces with arduino in order to provide TITO functionality.
