WTB: S2000 Enhanced MB 7551270
« on: March 24, 2014, 03:15:46 PM »
Hey guys....I am tired of my s2000 never booting up the first time....I need to find a working motherboard...its the only thing left I haven't changed. Let me know if anyone has a good working one...I just need the motherboard...not a backplane....but will entertain both.

thanks.

Tom

What does the board you have do? Does it flash something (netplex linkdown?), then keep doing that until you try to turn it off and on again (maybe a few off and on's till it works)?

Sounds like you need a Varta battery replacement, the green battery. I have to do the same on one of my machines.

In the meantime, when you turn it on and it's doing it's 'flashing' thing, wait for a minute or 2.., Off then On and you'll be up and running.. The green Varta battery needs some juice to fire the board.. They go bad and stop recharging.. That's whats causing the prob.

Hope this helps.. And like I mentioned in a post before, the Varta batteries are a pain in the  :buttwiggle: to desolder.

About 2-weeks ago I had to replace some also.  I had some diff type boards used in other applications but had the same batteries on them that were new (not cpu/procc. boards).  Heated up the station and de-soldered both and installed in 5 minutes per board-did 4 of them.  The soldering is no big deal in my opinion.   If it was surface mount stuff --That's a diff. trick-Magnifing glass and steady hands!---Now that can be a pain in the ass there. The hot air gun as I call it does not play--- .

Tom,
I can also sell you a "NEW" sealed 1270 board or a used one with a new battery installed & tested if you are interested. Replacing your battery would definitely be cheaper. They are a pain in ass to remove. It takes a good hot iron & a lot of patience. It's well worth it to pay someone with experience & good equipment to replace it.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

They are a lot easier to remove if you heat the solder connections up and actually add a little new solder to each one first, then use a good solder wick and they should come right off

Yep,  I have been soldering and de-soldering for 35 years.  As the years went by the tools became more advanced and worked better.  It is Nothing to pop one of those batteries off or any other external componet on those boards in my opinion.  Surface mount-again -diff. bag of snakes.  As RB stated the member may not want or be able to a transfer on batt.  Who knows.

That's not the same battery. It only has 2 leads & is 70mAH.

Well, I installed my new battery today....booted up with no problems the first time it was turned on.... :applause: :applause:

It seems the battery was the cause...I tested the old battery after it came out...it was at 3.4v...when the new was at 3.7

I did notice the button battery only reads 2.9v......is this button battery need to be 3.0v?

Thanks for everyones help!!!!

The button battery should work at 90% of rated voltage 2.7v or higher. Machine will give you a message "Main Battery Low" if it gets below that.
