Bally alpha Black Gold Quick Hits problem
« on: June 11, 2014, 11:39:46 AM »
I am having a problem setting up this game. I got this game with a missing MPU, so I put one of my spares into the machine. I am trying an OS326, 809 Bios, and a ASGQHBG014IE-01 game card. I can do a ram clear with a 320 no problem. The problem is when I install the 326 OS and try to boot I get a aborting message. Maybe someone with an eagle eye can spot the problem. Thanks. Bill.

You may be trying to run a 1Gb MPU. That 809 BIOS is not compatable with a 1GB. What is your MPU Part #? There should be a sticker above the logic door on the right hand side that shows the MPU model # examples: 201819, 203588 etc.. Also, I'm pretty sure that the 326 OS should be on a 512MB DMA card not a 64 MB as you show in the pic.

Same question, What's the model number of the MPU?
Yours says Sierra Design Group, I think they made games for class 2 gaming and your program is for class 3

Maybe this will help Bill see where they are.
OS should not be on 64 Mg.

That's a 400/500Mhz CPU so your 809 BIOS with a 326 o/s is a good combo. I would start with trying a known good version of the 326-XX o/s that's on a 512MB card like it should be. I don't see how that one that you show in the pic could possibly work.

You guys are true gentlemen. I am going to try and locate a good 326 OS card and give it a try. I'll keep you posted. Thanks. Bill.

Good catch BiggerHammer.  :applause: :applause:
I didn't even notice his 326 was on a 64MB card. That will definitely help.

Bill,
I tried to reply to your PM but your inbox is full. Delete a few of your old PM's then get back at me.
Neon, thanks for the props. That big'ol homemade OS326 sticker looked awfully suspect.

I want to say hats off to all of you guys who make this hobby/business enjoyable. We ask questions and most of you guys respond with an intelligent answer. Big Hammer nailed it because I had the wrong OS card. I got one from him and the game came right up. Working f--in great.  :hail: May you all have a wonderful day. Thanks. Bill
