Bally Alpha MEI Problem
« on: September 29, 2014, 07:28:07 AM »
I have a Bally Alpha with a MEI Cashflow giving me some problems. I kept getting BV Comm error so I took the interface board from the bill acceptor and noticed a satellite board on it. I removed the satellite board and returned it to the game and it cleared the error code and the BV lights up but it will not take bills. All three lights on the MEI are lit instead of just the green. The satellite board says Easitrax on it. What the heck am I missing? Thanks. Bill.

That's probably used for audit trail.  Easytrax logs what the validator accepted, so the operator can confirm with what is on the cashbox.  My guess is, that the firmware on that validator has easytrax extensions on it, you probably need to re-flash it.  Have you tried a different head to make sure there's nothing wrong with the interface card either?

The head is a sc6607 RS232. I did try a different head from another game with the easitrax and interface card with the same results. I guess I am leaning toward a re flash on the heads. Bill.

Also,  Yes it may be a dumb question but make sure it is set up as mars in the menu options on set up.  Was this working in your alpha or this was to be a upgrade over prob. a squeling wba?.

Bill, Also they may be in the wrong frame/housing.  All that will fit in a 6602 (igt), and all the other diff. ones, usb etc. On each one the wiring is diff.  I do remember for example on a 6602 (igt) if you have a working mei already and want to test a head or card (that are flashed) it will give same error until you open/close door and cycle, Then it goes away.  Will try it on a alpha later after I go dig some heads/interface cards up.  Each head and card has a uniquie id that the mpu sees and stores, when changed it will produce that error.

It sounds like your RF Option is switched on (Optioned) which is used with the Easy Trac System

If you have access to the MEI STS Program you can disable this feature

MEI have available a program called STS which works in conjunction with the Banana (the Yellow hand held unit for programing the BV's)

If you have to change the program in the Banana, you would make the change via the the STS program

The STS Program will also program the BV for you along with a number of other things, such as enable/disable bills like the $1

You would also enable/disable the RF option for the tracking system used with the Cash Boxes

When I get home I will see if I have any info that I can post on the STS Program

Hi Bill, none of my MEI documentation shows the section relating to the RF Tag, I will see if I can take a screen shot of the program when I am back in the workshop
