Hi all,

I have an S+ that I bought a mpu board for because the original was damaged. Put the board in set everything up and it works perfect. Then I put the set chip in and enabled the b/v 9 1. But even after that the b/v doesn't work. It cycles machine maiden spins shut the door all comes on takes and plays coins. The machine works perfect but the validator doesn't light up and won't take a bill. Not even to reject it. Checked the cash can and cash door all in and shut. Belly glass shut and main door shut and latched. Reseated the b/v clicks in and seats good. It's wba 11 and I don't know for sure if it ever worked as I bought the machine non working. I have a 13 I want to put in but wanted to get the old one running first. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Does the validator do anything when you power on the machine, any grinding noises or anything?

Yes it cycles (grinding) 1 time all else works as should. It doesn't cycle a second time like my S2k but they may not. I don't have anything to compare it to so I'm at a loss. The 2 red diodes on the side are on but no lights on front and won't recognize a bill.

What software is in your wba 11? do you have en eprom reader to read the eprom to verify it actually has the right program on it?

You say won't recognize a bill. Does that mean it takes it in then spit's it back out? If yes probably needs older money or upgrade chip or flash. Or is just dirty optics on it.

The chip says v 3.00-03 and no it doesn't take a bill in it's just dead like it's not on. I do not have an eprom reader.

Well I'm not getting anywhere with the 11 so I think I'll try to change the change the harness and put a 13 in. I've never done it before but I'll give it a shot. Might need some advice. Thanks and I'll post results.

I've changed the harness and put a working wba 13 out of my s2k. I'm still getting the same result. Cycles immediately reels spin close the door reels spin again but the b/v never lights up and won't even try to take a bill. It's like it doesn't read the enabled setting. Could this be a mother board problem?

What is the software on your 13? The S+ and S2000 require different protocols. Not all S2000 validator software will work in an S+. S+ needs a IDO22 or IDO23, and S2000 is an IDO23 or IDO24. Depending on the software of your WBA-13, it may be S2000 only.

Also, I found some info in my notes from Jim/MidWest. May help some:

switch #2 determines what IDO you are using, on=IDO-22, off= IDO-23. some older SS chips used IDO-22 to operate. you could try it both ways and see if it will work.this test should be preformed under normal operating conditions, NOT IN THE TEST MODE, i.e. the game is ready to play, then try both settings of switch #2.

The fact that the red leds are coming on tells me the power supply is good. however there is a second circuit in the power supply that acts as an interface between the cpu and the bill acceptor.

The 13 both of them are IDO24. Do you mean dip switch 2 or something else? Thanks

S+ will only accept IDO22 or IDO23. Since your WBA-13 is ID024, it will not work in your S+.

You are going to have to buy either a different validator for the S+, or buy a IDO23 chip (so that it will work in an S+).

And yes, dipswitch #2 needs to set accordingly for IDO22 or IDO23.

Think of the "IDO" as a language. S+ speaks IDO22 and IDO23, S2000 speaks IDO23 and IDO24.

I will swap the harness back and put 11 back in and see if I can get it to work. If all goes well I'll search for the right parts to get a 13 running. Thank you for the help.

I put the 11 back in didn't make any difference on or off. I'm going to have to try something else. On the uptick I'm getting really good at swapping those harnesses around.

You did not state which ID your wba11 has 022 or 023

Well I was playing the S+ last night and it came to me........I didn't set the denomination, only took 4 months.

The old validator works fine now. Thanks everybody.
