1996 Bally s5500 payouts don't match the top glass
« on: June 06, 2023, 11:11:31 AM »
The payouts on my bally s5500 Monte Carlo Riches don’t match the reels at all. It pays on random results, but doesn't pay on winning combinations shown on the top glass. I have programed the correct four-digit game ID and the reels seem to go to the correct position 0 when I run the reel test #6. When I run the payout test #10, the amounts and combinations do not match the top glass at all. Is there a way to manually program the payouts?

Thanks from a new guy.

OK so I have a little more information. The numbers on my machine are as follows:
SMI 5962 on the front of the MPU drawer
BP18&20 E663311x-05 7540
Reel 1 SMI 5831 Tape 2377
Reel 2 SMI 5962 Tape 2368
Reel 3 SMI 5835 Tape 2379 (or maybe 2378 the writing is smudged)

Check that your reels are installed in the correct order. Kinda sounds like that may be your problem. Someone may have removed them and not put them back in right.

The reels are all labeled for the position they are in.

Can you post a picture of your machine? U18 and U20 are SMI 7520 according to your info.  I can't find info for your Monte Carlo Riches. Post your reel strip numbers and maybe someone can chime in here. Does it show Monte Carlo Riches on your MPU info? Where it shows 5962. Looking at your reel strip numbers, what order are they in?

That doesn't matter. Verify to be sure.

clear pictures of your machine, paytable glass and strips will help.

The 7540 personality chips in it may be incorrect.

Thanks,
Wayne

Payouts are based on the personality chips, so can't be programmed.

Please don't use offsite image hosting as they all will DISAPPEAR over time rendering the thread useless for future members that may have the same issue.
I left the link, but added what I think are the more important photos.

Try swapping the strips or reels. There's only 5 other combos to try:

123
132
213
231
321
312

I tried swapping the reels to all of the combinations, but it didn't seem to help. To be honest, I'm not sure which SMI number I should be using when I program the game code. I had it set to 5962 (the number on the label on the front of the MPU drawer). I've also tried the one on the chips (7540). The payouts are still not correct.

When you say that you are programming the game code, this is confusing.  The only way to change the personality program is to swap out the set of personality chips u18 and u20.
I'll look at your pictures and see what I can find later. Off to the doctors now.
At this point my thought is that 5962 would be correct,  but I'll check later

Thanks,
Wayne

I used test number 11 to get to the game options. Then i used option 50 "Game ID" and entered the number. Changing this value seems to change the payout amounts and combinations, but I don't seem to have the correct number or something.

Never heard of anyone doing that before. I've had dozens of s5500 & s6000's over the years and I don't remember ever having to do anything like the procedure you mention. Maybe it's above my pay grade.

That won't change the payable.
In the waiting room looking at your pictures.   Looks to be a blazing 7s clone . 5962 should be correct,  but you will need a set of personality chips. I will list the various percentage smi info later.  Each game has a number of personality chips available to achieve the desired payback percentage,  you choose the correct set.

Thanks,
Wayne

This is the list. they make many clone games, this one is a favorite of many people.  if you get a set of any of these personality chips, and swap them in, then perform a saferam clear, you should be good

Anybody wanna trade some 7540’s for some 5962’s? Should I post a WTB in the classified section?
