Error 20 things to check.

Hi folks,
I had sold a Bally 6000 machine a few years back to a coworker. (I am not a dealer). They had their battery go bad recently. I replaced it with alkalines and tested it on a machine of mine.
They had some issues once the board went in, but I had them do a complete clear a couple of times and the machine worked. One of the errors was a 20 (Coin in Jam).


Well a little afterwards, the Error 20 came up again. They did a complete clear again but the error 20 came up immediately.
I am going to head over to their house to take a look. What are the areas I should focus on? I am trying to get a laundry list of things to check since the machine is not in my possession and I want to have a list of things to check since it isn't convenient for me to make it over there again. I had them check to make sure that there were no coins stuck.

I'm not sure how the coin optics are in a 6000 but of it is similar to 5500, take the optics apart and clean the send and receive optics on the circuit board, if it has a prism take it out and clean it, if there is a block with holes in it which the optics transmit and receive through clean that out. Dirty optics components will cause this error.

Thanks very much. I will bring along some rubbing alcohol and q-tips. (What I use to clean optics on my pinball machines.)

Thanks for the help. It ended up being a fairly quick fix. I noticed that the amber light on the coin optic board was flickering. I then noticed that this board was loose. I tightened the screws which made the light go solid. It still showed an Error 20 (I was pretty sure that this loose board was the issue). For the heck of it, I did a saferam clear and it worked after that.
