This Bally 6000 I just bought ... weird stuff... glass covering speakers...

Bought a Bally 6000 a few days ago. They aren't like IGT's! I'm just curious about a few things...
I pride off the top glass to realize there was a little tab above the reels to release it! Oops! Didn't damage anything though.
But, when I removed the glass, it revealed what the two shadows were that I saw: The speakers! I did some reading on the old site and saw that I do have what looks like a pro sound 2 card to the left of reel number one.
I'm just wondering why someone would do that? I'm guessing whoever "refurbished" it just didn't care? It's a nice looking "Wild Rose" machine but I wonder if it was something else before? There was a different player tracking panel stuck over the tracking unit that didn't line up either and he had glued a piece of shitty looking "paper wood" over the entire thing. I pried that too, to realize it still had the guts inside.
When I got the glass out, there was a small rectangular circuit board inside the top box. I'm assuming it's for the player tracking?

Yes I saw the proper glass when I searched NLG -  someone else had the same issue. I was curious as to why someone would just "glass over" the speakers. There's plenty of people out here who flip machines so I'm just trying to see the logic in doing this.
Maybe there is no logic...they just want to make a quick $$$, so whatever glass they have is just shoved in?

Probably they just didn't want to search for and pay for the correct glass. Most likely the sound can still be heard, just not as loud & clear.

It may be that the original machine was a progressive. the board you have is the daughter board for a Mikohn progressive system and not player tracking. So instead of blacking out the progressive window or setting up the progressive it looks like they swapped the pro sound glass for a standard glass. Scott

That explains why this familiar looking rectangular box is there, just above the keypad!
Hmmm now I have to decide to keep that in there and find a nice glass... or gut the unused stuff out there for future use.

My $100 Bally 6000 (with custom lighted stand!) is working great. And, it did have a progressive display at one time and it also has the "prosound" board in it. And you can hear the top speakers even though they're covered by the glass, the wrong glass. It's also wrong because there's 7's in the award list and no 7's on the reel strips!
I think I'll keep this slot for a while and search for a new game and glass kit that fits the machine. I can tell that someone just threw this together and sold it to the unsuspecting buyer who never knew!  I think that's really a lowbrow way to do business though.

Oh it's very nice...smudges and all! 
But I have all that, minus reel strips. Mine don't have the 7's in them, just bars and roses.
Got any kits with speaker holes?

I wasn't trying to sell you a kit!    I thought a pic of the strips would help you! If you're strips do t have 7s, and the glass does, then you have something that is mismatched!

I was wondering why you would be trying to sell me something I had... mostly! But yes my strips are non-sevens and the glass is.
Last night, I set the supposed "crazy spin" switch on. Nothing happened after many spins but I did hit three double bars. And, instead of paying 30 credits, it paid 300 and a pretty song started playing! I think this machine doesn't know what it is.

In your pic of the game with glass and strips installed, the one reel has a single bar with a double bar below it. The strips I show in the pic do not have one (that I can see). There were 2-3 variations on the "Rose" theme. Pretty clear you have the wrong strips...if you're missing 7s as well!
