power supply problem?
« on: February 13, 2015, 02:02:59 PM »
looking for some help with this machine.it has been sitting for a  month, working  fine when it was turned off  then, but now it will not start.at power on dbv cycles, florescent lights  come on, but nothing  in the display. all of them are blank.no response from  either  reset key  or test  button.all three fuses test  good.I am  guessing that it is the  power supply? anything else? Thanks  James

Check the reels and see if they spin freely, if they do then the problem is probably the ivory colored pug on the mother board.  Remove hopper and look for the plug on the motherboard, it will have 2 green wires on the right.  You can move the connector up and down a few times and see if reels lock up, also display should start working.  If this is the problem you can replace/clean connector or you can cut the green wires near the plug.  Connect the 2 green wires together and than ground them tho the case.

just to be  sure, with power  on the reels  should be  stiff? I  did notice that  plug had some  burn to it.what should  the voltage  be at that  connection? I  was measuring  DCvolts and was not getting a read.it's  AC isn't it?

yes with power on reels should be stiff, they will move but will have some resistance.  I'm not really ssure what voltage is on the plug.  The burn area is the problem.  Slid plug up and down while keeping one hand on a reel, you should feel it lock up.

Your power supply is likely fine -- it's an issue with the connection between the power supply and the fixed motherboard in the bottom of the machine.  See this thread on the old site for all the info you need:
