Do I have the right game chips?
« on: February 15, 2015, 04:47:06 PM »
I have not played with an S+ in quite sometime as mine is working well. I just picked up a load of arcade games along with them came an S+ majestic sevens 3 line. Got it going with the occasional coin in or reel error, however it seems to hit randomly. The strips are in the correct locations on the tabs. The machine has one number 1 reel and two number 3 reels. I am not sure that it matters as the reel strips appear to the same. It is running SP731 game prom. reel prom is marked 4074 3lm7. I would assume the reel prom is correct as it means 3 line majestic sevens.

2 of your reel strips should be the same and in reel 1 and 2 position.

Here are stat's for 4 coin Mag. 7 which has all 3 strips being the same.

I found this post
http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=24927.5

so I assume it may be the right chip set. However I am still lost as to why it pays out whenever it wants.

Fixed the link.  -knagl

It is running SP731 game prom. reel prom is marked 4074 3lm7. I would assume the reel prom is correct as it means 3 line majestic sevens.

Ok, according to my list, SP4074 is for Magic 7. I show SP4025 needed for Majestic Sevens (different game). I also show needing reel strips 85896000 85896100 85896100 for Majestic Sevens (note that one is different).

So, while I can not say for sure, it looks like you may have the wrong glass for the chip and reel strips, or the wrong chip and reel strips for the glass (which ever way you want to look at it). Either would give you the wrong payouts.

Can you post the numbers that are on the bottom of the reel strips.

to find out what is going on in your machine: since you have a SP731 chip, open the door, press the white test button, either on the front of the board cage, or next to the on/off switch, or behind the panel where the the on/off switch is located. now with the door slightly ajar(not closed or latched)  use the bet one button and advance the number in the coin in display to number 4,  there should be two numbers in the displays, the winner paid will be the SS number , the credit display will be the SP 731 number, the SS number is the chip that is currently in your machine. now if you press the spin button the reels will spin and stop, if the reel strips are correct, it should show the reels lined up for the jackpot and there will be a number in the display that will show the number of credits that are paid for this jackpot. if you hit the spin button again, it will cycle to the next lower winning combo and display its payout, you can do this all the way down to the lowest payout. this test checks the reel strip location to the glass. if they do not match up they could be in the wrong positions, if any position showed the correct symbol, then swap the other two COMPLETE reel assemblies and re try the test.  if you can never get the proper results then you have the wrong program or the wrong strips.

You stated the game was a 3 Line??,  that would indicate three paylines on the reel glass,  you have a 3 coin buy a pay game type, similar to a Sizzling seven , except the 3rd coin pay for the second set of sevens is 200, on a sizzling, it would be 300.

Hope this helps
Jim

...and on a Sizzling 7s game, you get paid on the second coin for 7s, not so on the Majestic 7s glass that the OP linked to earlier (attached below).

According to one listing I found for SS4074, it does appear as a 3-line game.

The glass for the Majestic 7s indicates in the fine print "all pays on center line only", so I would agree that this is supposed to be a single line, 3-coin buy-a-pay game.  SS4074 is not the correct software for the pictured kit.

I have not yet had time to go back to this machine as the Ohio Pinball show is coming and I am trying to prepare for that. I am willing to bet that the ROM is for MAG7.

Anyone have the correct chip for sale?

I think you also have a problem with the reel strips. According to my list I posted above, two strips are the same and one is different for Majestic Sevens.  So having the correct chip may not solve the problem. If you can get the numbers off the bottom of the strips, it will help to determine just what you have.  I am guessing you may have the chips and strips for Magic 7, but have the wrong glass.
