Help with disconnected wire ends on S+ machine
« on: February 26, 2015, 08:42:41 AM »
Hi,
Are there any places online where you can see a few photos of the inside of an s+ machine and where the various wire connectors go or would someone be kind enough to open the door on their machine and shoot a few photos and post them.
i have several connectors that are disconnected.  Thanks for your time in doing this for me.  Dana

what ^^^ said.  A lot of the time, when you get a machine, you will have all kinds of wires loose and not connected when it was taken out of service.  Most of the time they are for player tracking and casino backend stuff and not needed, that is why it is best to post a picture and we can tell you if those cables need to be connected, or just removed.

Dumb question of the day...How do you get pictures to show up on your posts?  I can get the picture to show up on the attachment list, but it does not want to show up when I preview the posts.  The pictures are only a few hundred kilobytes.  Sorry!

When you preview your post with pictures in it, it will delete them. Just the way the forum is programmed.
:banghead:   Just add your pictures after you preview.

Here ya go!
1. Pic of the inside of an S+ door; no bill validator or ticket printer.
2. Closeup of the coin-mechanism of the same door.

I've encountered many home-use slots of various brands where the coin diverter solenoid
has been removed, leaving it's wires hanging out in space. This keeps the machine from
ever sending coins down the overflow chute, which often goes nowhere on home slots.
(It also sends every coin into the hopper, even when the machine is off!)

Here is a picture of the disconnected wires.  Two tiny ones are in the upper right corner of the picture, two are on the silver metal box, and two thin ones are located above the mpu? board.

from the looks of everything, I would start with a history of the machine(if you know anything about it). secondly, the main power connector looks burnt, this could be a major cause for problems you are having, has the machine ever worked before?

The machine was received from a private party and I don't know much of the history about it.  Unfortunately the owner was out of town when I picked it up and I got from his wife who knew nothing about it.  I was told it was working, but I can't be sure.  Sorry, not much help that way.  You are the second person to tell me that the power connector was burnt and could be the problem as the machine does act pretty much dead so I will try to get that fixed first and then report back.  Thanks! again for your help.

Replaced all the pins with new pins in the burnt connector.  Now when I turn it on the 61-2 light is gone.  All that lights up is the 25 cent light.  Any ideas where to go from here?

Also I replaced the cmos chip with a new one at the same time which might be partly why the 61-2 error code cleared.
