Reset the payout credit
« on: March 08, 2020, 11:37:21 AM »
I recently purchased a IGT S + River Gambler slot machine.  The payout credits have become high and I would like to reset it back to zero instead of cashing out.  Can anyone tell me the procedure on how to do this.

The only way to do it would be to use a RAM clear chip, which would reset all of the settings on the machine and also would deactivate the bill acceptor if there is one installed.

Your best course of action would be to either play off or cash out the credits, then adjust the credit limit(s) on the machine to prevent this in the future. You cannot adjust credit settings while there are credits on the machine.

Thanks for the reply.  I did just get the credits low enough and cashed out.  I was asking what is done if a hand payout is made due to exceeding the max cash out of the machine.  Mine is set at 1000.  Say I got the credits to 1500, and I wanted to hand pay out, is there a way to get the credits back to 0.  I am just trying to avoid having the machine pay out lots of quarters.

Depends on which SP chip you are using.  I like to use SP1271. It will allow you to set credit limit very high (9999) and hopper limit low (300, 600, 1000 or whatever you want). Then whenever you cashout with more credits than the hopper limit it will go to hand pay.

i am happy with the payout limit.  I just wonder what I do to get the payout credits back to zero if there is a hand pay out?

Turning the jackpot/reset key will clear a hand pay.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

If the credit limit is not set higher than the hopper limit, when you press cash out, it will always pay from hopper.

Opening the door will do same as turning the JP reset key in a handpay situation I do believe.

It really, really depends on the SP chip installed in your machine and how you have the limits set.  On most older SP chips, you can only set a hopper limit.  If your hopper limit is set to 1000, the machine will never let the credit meter get higher than that.  For example, if you have 990 credits on the machine and hit a 20-coin win on the reels, the machine will spit out 20 coins immediately and keep the credit meter at 990.

Since you have made it clear that you are trying to avoid having the hopper pay out a lot of coins, let's start with you telling us what the SP chip number is in your machine so we can tell you what your options are.

If you are not sure what SP chip is in your machine, directions on how to find out can be found here: http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm
