97 S Plus Doulbe 5 Times Pay 3 Reel "REEL TILT"

    Had a 3100 reel tilt error with Reel 1 not spinning. Swamped out the the door and belly optics. Cleaned and checked hopper optics and blades.
Had to go Las Vegas for a week, when I returned. Turn on Machine all I get now is the Door, Top Lites come on, bill valiadator cylces, …..
No Reel Spin Nothing....


    WHERE DO I START???

[3100] error code is a hopper tilt.
It means that one extra coin went thru the hopper optics than it should have due to bad hopper brakes or incorrectly sized hopper pinwheel for the coin that you're using.
You would get a [41] error code if the left-most reel had a  tilt.

Watch the "Coins Played" display window as you close the door and fully depress the door latch downwards.
What number is displayed in there?
Does it momentarily go out and change at all as you close the latch?

Correct 3100 is that extra coin out error.  When it did display the other error code is displayed a "45" error??? 5 Reel tilt code? is that right?
Mine is only 3 reels....and Now when I turn on the machine,,,The Reels don't even engage. ( previously ) #2 and # 3 reel would slow spin and # 1 reel wouldn't move at all....
Turn on machine lights all come on, bill validator cycles, and that is all...No More Display info.

if the reels are free spinning, you have a power issue, either the plug behind the hopper on the motherboard, or fuse caps.  check both,  more than likely its the power plug on the motherboard.

If you mean  I can turn the reels freely when the machine is on,,,,that's correct... would that same power issue upset my sig 7 display in the door??

when that plug is defective you lose the AC power going into the cpu board, the power supply for the game operation is on the board. so you lose some of the voltages that are needed to hold the reels in place (no easy movement) and usually no displays. A good indicator of the that plug being defective is no denom lamp lit provided that the bulb is good) and the reels move freely.  That lamp should come on as soon as power is applied.

Short answer... neither.  Jim is referring to the center of the reel glass where it shows the single credit value/coin denomination.
You will need to remove the MPU (metallic cover with the black knob, in the back behind the hopper).  It may be tight, but slides up.  The "motherboard" shown in the previous post is at the bottom and the MPU plugs into it.

You will need a new plug or you can replace just that connector. The new one's make contact on 3 sides, where the original only touched 1 side. You can use a small screw driver to release to lock on the pin and sometimes clean the contact and bend slightly to make contact again. I think Jim and RB both sell new harnesses with 3 side connectors.
