S+ DBV-145-SH rejecting bills

Got a new machine & got everything to work except BV.

Cycles normally,  takes in $1 and rejects.

I cleaned bill head, no change.

Stacker is working properly.

Is the Bezel lit up  ?
Do you have a Set Chip to enable the DBV ?

Bezel is lit.  I used the set chip & it is set up correctly.

Can’t think of anything else to try.

Try turning the bill around, the 145 only takes old bills facing up and only in one direction.  Also try an old 20, 50 or 100.

IF THIS MACHINE IS A S PLUS , and you have correctly identified the unit as a SH model, then it is the wrong unit. S plus machine will only use a SS model, you can easily tell them apart, the SS model doesn't have a bill throat on the front, it is flat. The SG model has a molded plastic throat on the front of it. It is used for Bally and Williams games. 

I doubt you would have able to set it up if it were a SH model,  do you hear two distinct cycles on power up, one a heavy grinding noise,( cash can and transport gears meshing) and a second subtle noise the head and transport meshing.

if your power supply has vents on the outer casing, then you can upgrade to a 200 head, has the latest money acceptance, up to the new 10, 20, four way acceptance.  I have these available.

I  suppose it may be an S machine.  I thought they had the mpu with the older style configuration.

I do hear the correct noises including the last meshing sound.  Occasionally the machine needs a restart as the BV will just make a stutter sound and not go through the full cycle.


It is definitely supposed to be front loading, and I doubt the elderly previous owner swapped the bill head, though someone else may have.  They didn’t mention if the BV ever worked.

The power supply for the BV does not have any venting.

Some vesions of the older S+'s have a DBV-145 mounted behind the reel glass, although I've never seen a belly door like that...that's cool!
Does a harness connect to the MPU?
Or does the MPU slide into the top of a floor-mounted motherboard?
Take a photo of the inside of the MPU.

It sounds like you're describing the weaker black plastic power supply for the validator.

you have a S plus machine, S models did not have the capability to add a bill unit.

you probably have an after market Western Money System, I don't know a lot about them, other than the company is out of business and not many of the units worked when they came into the home market.

I am only aware of two protocol that IGT used for their Splus series, IDO22 and IDO23,

what sp chip is in your machine?  maybe WMS made a special sp chip to work with an IDO11, which was a SIGMA protocol??

maybe a coin only machine.

The chip is a sp731

The Bv is in the attached photo.

It pulls the bill most of the way in and rejects, or jams.

I tried a different known bad 145 and it stacks the bills properly,  just won’t add credit :/

May have to be a coin only machine, but occasionally people fuss about that. 

Even if I could swap with a good old bill 145, it won’t be better than a cover-up
On that part of the reel glass.

Just to let you know, a DBV-200 bill head, is waayy better than a 145. 

Don't let those let these wires I've circled below, touch the 3rd reel basket.

I. have a dvb 200, but would need the power supply.


Only issue is that there is no built-in guide.   Is there any guides that could be glued on to the exterior?
