About a year ago this forum helped me get my S Plus working again - new battery, new game chips, had to use a clear chip, but it worked out fine. Thank you all very much!  I really intended to set the machine to pay out in credits instead of coins - I really did -  but........you know.  So last night I hit a big jackpot. Hopefully the picture will attach below.  I didn't hear any sounds, it did not attempt to pay out any quarters, it just froze.  The bottom light on the candle is flashing sort of fast, the top light  is slower.  The only number showing in any window is a "1" in COINS PLAYED. 
When  I put my ear to the machine, I could hear a very faint continuous "dink-dink-dink-dink", and I shut it down & went to bed.   When I turned it on today the dink-dink was gone, but it's still frozen. I've been reading and apparently I can't clear this jackpot with the key, I have to let it pay out the coins. Right?  How can I get it going again so I can do this and then change the options so I don't have to go through this again?  I hope it is an easy fix because I know nothing about what I'm doing.  Taking out chips or touching wires together is above my pay grade.   Thanks for your help again.

What happens when you toss a whole bunch of quarters in the hopper and close the door?

Nothing.  I keep a few hundred dollars worth of quarters in there anyway.  When I close the door it does its little spin and lands on the jackpot again  and does nothing.

If you installed a battery holder when you changed the battery pop it out and put it back in.  You'll have to clear the 61 error like you did when changed the battery. That may take care of the problem.

No, I wasn't smart enough to install a battery holder - the only battery they had at the store had little tabs on it so I just soldered it in.   There isn't a 61 error.  I mean, it doesn't show a 61.    I thought I'd try turning the reset key to see what would happen, but I was afraid I might mess it up more. 
So do you think that's my only option to get it to start paying out?   I don't remember what else I did when I put in the new battery.  I'll have to go look it up again.

The faint ding ding ding sound was to alert you that that jackpot was an attendant pay. The remedy for that is to let it boot wait for the ding ding ding  sound make sure the door is closed and turn the key in the key switch on the side of the machine above the handle. As to where you are right now, I'm not sure if you don't hear the ding sounds.

Just noticed that hit was worth 1250, limit probably is 1000.  That would be a handpay.

Well now I feel like a REAL dummy.  Two keys came with my S Plus and I thought they were the same.  One of them is either a really really bad copy, or it belongs to some other machine.  It would almost turn the quarter turn, but not quite. I decided to try using the other one just for the heck of it, and it WORKED.  Sorry for the bother and thanks very much for helping.  I'll be back asking for more though, because I just discovered a couple of little tiny wires that that appear to have come out of some harness connector things, but I'm not sure - I need to read some more.   But that's for another thread.  Thank you so much again.
