I would just change the SP to SP731.  You need the reel chip you have so the payouts match your glass.  Here's a link to 5CM Wild Cherry from the S+ Bible, if you notice your payouts are quite different.

I wonder if these are similar to Bally E-2000 machines made for the Army?  the big difference  on those machines, in order to get the reset and test switch to work on the hopper you had to activate the key switch on the side of the machine.

I see that there is a toggle switch on your machine as well, operated by a key. maybe you have to turn it in order to get anything to respond.

I would think if you put in normal SS and SP chips that would correspond to the glass, unhook that display, the machine should act as a s plus??

I assumed that toggle switch was a key operated power switch and the jackpot reset keyswitch is right above that?  I'm not sure what the small circuit board in front of those two switches is though.  It's protected by a metal cover.

I was thinking the same thing, but just the SP chip as the reel chip only has the strip/paytable data and others from the S+ bible don't match is glass.  I wonder that the payback percentage on it really is though?

This switch setup is very unusual.
I've circled that small circuit board with the metal cover, does it have a keyhole on the outside of the cabinet?

The toggle switch below that,  is protected with a keyed bracket....is that your "power switch"?

Key switch in the middle of the machine on the side (bottom) turns everything on and off. The one above that is the jackpot re set. As far as the one you’re pointing out I’m not sure what it is but there is nothing on the outside of the machine for it

okay thanks....at the moment, I have no idea what that small circuit board is for and I've been working with these S+'s since the 90's.
At work, there's still quite a few of these cabinets live on the floor but they don't have the power switch in that location, nor that small circuit board.
Your cabinet is a somewhat older type, but still an S+ model....it's just that the ARMY chips are hard to find documentation for.
I agree with the guys suggestions of replacing your SP chip with a more common SP731, to see if you can get it to work with the SS REEL PROM chip that's in there.

In the other thread about a similar S+ cabinet, we were NOT successful in getting it to run right yet....their display doesn't work like yours does.
Those ARMY SS chips don't seem to like to work too well with any others that do not have the ARMY labels.
Your topic does interest me tho....I have some ARMY chips at work I'd like to experiment with to see if I can help.
Unfortunately, I won't be in my workroom until next Monday to try them.
Hopefully, you'll get you machine running the way you want before then.

I have some parts on the way. I ordered two sp chips to try the 629 and 731. I also got a new reel chip to try. I’m sure it won’t change anything but I figured it’s worth a shot, I got 3759/3760ss. I also got a new generic cmos to try. The only problem I might have is if I still have to reset my machine after installing all the new chips. I’ve searched everywhere in my machine and can’t find any other buttons.

On the inside, it does look pretty simple enough to remove the cover and see the circuit board itself?
I don't think anyone knows what it's for tho, it may be a casino-placed sensor of some type.....what it does tho, is unknown.

Even the display panel is unusual....I've only seen that a couple of times but didn't get into it.
I remember uninstalling it and swapping MPU boards & chips to a different game.
(That explains where I originally got the ARMY chips from.)
I've long since lost that display and the driver boards that hook up to it with the ribbon cable.
I searched for it last week in our storage room....must of gotten tossed.

When I get home from work I’ll take the metal cover off that small board. I have tried to unhook it to see if that would change any of the errors I have but no luck on that either.

As for the outside key-activated power switch, one reason I see it's for is possibly some sort of time restriction or jurisdiction rule.
For example, offshore ship casinos can only turn on their slots once they're 20 miles offshore, the ARMY may of only turned ON their machines in the Officer's Clubs when the bar opened?

Sounds like I need to change my chips and see what happens. Once they get here I will post an update. I’m just curious if I will still have to reset my machine after installing the new ss,sp and cmos chips to clear any old errors or if it will automatically do it? You will probably get a code [61].
At that point, you hold in the test button for like 3 seconds, and you will see the display change to [61-1].
Now you close the door, then turn the reset key momentarily, once.
The reels will spin from right to left, and then the "Insert Coin" message should come on the display.

There is no such thing as a "Reset button" on an S+ slot machine.
There is a "Test" button switch (Which is a little white momentary button) that may be located in front of a power switch box, behind the power switch box, or on the front side of the MPU tray enclosure.
In your case, it's located on the front of the MPU enclosure, just above the door harness connector that has mostly orange wires on it.
It's just to the left of the grounding nut.
Just for kicks, hold that Test button in for about 3 seconds, and watch the display.

The Jackpot Reset key is that key on the outside of the cabinet, under the pull handle, and located above what is your power keyswitch, on your unusual cabinet.

Amazingly that fixed it! Thanks a million times over. I just had to “reset” it in that sequence. The only error I need to fix now is hopper empty 31

Update: everything seems to be working fine. The only problem is when I try to cash out the coin hopper makes a humming noise like it’s trying to work but eventually the screen will read “hop emp 32” the hopper is about half full of quarters. Any suggestions?

Is the hopper turning or just humming?  If it's not turning then check the brake on the back of the motor and make sure it's not stuck.  Also check inside the hopper to make sure nothing is jammed.   Glad you were able to reset the errors and get it running

Yes with the brake released it still won’t spin. I tried to spin it by hand and it will only move back and forth just a little bit not much at all. I’m thinking something is locked up inside.

And yes it’s nice to actually use the machine regardless of the coin hopper issues. thank you to you and everyone else who helped along the way. I will be making a donation to this page. I have very little experience with these machines so any knowledge is very much appreciated!

With the brake disengaged you should be able to turn it by hand, but it has some resistance.  Empty the hopper and see if a screw or other non-coin object may have found its way in the hopper jamming it up.
