IGT S Plus newbie user
« on: November 11, 2023, 04:59:51 AM »
Hi there. I'm a newbie user from Italy. My name is Ferdy and I live in Rome, the Italian Capital City. I own 4 Pachislo and 2 Pachinko I've bought from England about ten years ago, 1 arcade cabinet playing Mame, Daphne, Laser Games, etc, one italian slot machine "Comma6" with jamma connector. At least I was wondering a IGT slot machine, very rare here in Italy. I found on italian site a guy who was selling an old S/Plus slot machine (Double Double Diamond). He said that the machine was broken, not working for some error code that he was unable to solve. I paid 200€ hoping that the problem was easy to have a solution (reading here the forum). So I turned on the machine, controlled the hopper knife that was not aligned jamming the hopper (that was the problem.....!). Now the machine is working fine with the reel motors working, the hopper working (with italian 20c coins that I set on the coin comparitor). What I'm asking to the community is some info about this Slot Machine that is very rare (I do not found anything on the web). I downloaded manuals of S(Plus machine but I do not have any info about the numbers that appear when I press the reset switch and the numbers that appear when I turn the reset key. Someone can help me? I do not check the motherboard to know which chip is working on it because I'm afraid to create hardware problems if I pull out the game board (the battery seems good not showing the known error code so I don't want to check it). Attached I post some photos of the slot. Is there someone that can help me knowing something more about this slot? Thank You in advance.
 :thank_you:
Ferdy

 :NLG_WELCOME:
A bunch of years ago, a really smart NLG member made a small sheet for us.
Match the numbers in the sheet from what you see on the display, as you press the little white Self Test button each time.
BTW On your older 1989 S+ cabinet, the Self Test button is on the front of the MPU enclosure, just above that Molex door harness connector with mostly orange wires.
It's basically for Diagnostic testing or reading stats...take a look at it in the Diagnostic Flip cards/ sheets...>>>

Thank you for the answer. I'm going to study the page you reported...
Another question is: what's the meaning of the numbers that appear in the "winner paid" when I turn the Jackpot Key (for ex "0552" as you see in the image)? Are some statistic message of the machine?
Last question: the "25c" on the glass is not the classic "25¢"... Perhaps this slot was not for the USA market and was exported to be used in some Casino in Europe?

Thank you again

I don't really know "how" you got there or what you did exactly....so it's unknown at the moment what that [0552] number represents right now.
You may be in Accounting mode or Input/Output Tests of the Flip Card mode?
You need to be MUCH more specific in what you exactly did...be very detailed...for example...>>>

Was the door open or closed when you turned the Reset key?  :Scratch-Head:
It makes a difference.

Re-read eveything in the link I gave to you about how to use the Flip Cards first.
Follow the steps and instructions like as if you have OCD,  to get the correct numbers you want you see.
The people that use these know how to use slot machine computers, and know exactly what steps to take to get desired results wanted.

Finally, If you want a quarter sticker/label like my avatar, just copy my avatar, paste it to a program such as Window "Paint"?
Size it, and print it out onto some plastic or photo paper, cut and install onto your reel glass?
I do not remember the font that was used or even where I got it...I just thought it was cool....haha

Hi, there!

Those numbers appear if I turn the Jackpot Key with the door closed. I did it (turn the Jackpot key)  when the slot was not working, soon after I bring it at home, with the problem I said before on the Knife Hopper, thinking it was an hardware or software problem...
So, now that is working without any problem I do not need to turn that key again.
I don't know when I need to use that Jackpot key... perhaps if I win the Jackpot to reset the machine??
At least I take off the MPU (the really reason why I buy this kind of machine is not only playing with it but to understand how are working....) to check it (if it was clean and so on). The motherboard is a 10 mHz.
I found a 20c money under the MPU, stuck very close to the electric circuit (!!!!!).....
The battery is OK (seems new one, well charged)... The Game Prom and the Reel Prom are showed in the picture attached...
What's the meaning of the numbers I see close to SP856 "0/1/4/5/12/14" and "1-512"? And the "1-64K" written over the Reel Prom SS6732?
The SP856 is not so easy to find (looking on the web) if I need to change it for hardware failure in the future.
The "SLO" i see written on the stickers over the EPROMs is meaning "SLOVENIA"???... perhaps this slot is coming from the Republic of Slovenia here in Europe where it was exported and used in a Casino?

Thank you again and excuse me for my bad english...
