getting first slot , coin in coin out questions
« on: April 14, 2016, 06:15:11 AM »
i am looking to get my first slot machine and had a few questions about coin in coin out .
if a machine is set up for tokens how hard is it to convert to quarters ?
and vice versa how hard to convert from quarters to tokens ?
can i even order coin in coin out set up for quarters or is that a  big no no to ask for ?

Welcome to NLG. If you are buying from a vendor make sure to ask if you want it to accept coins. As far as coins or tokens, if it is set up for .25 you can use either. But not at the same time. There will be a coin comparator under the coin slot that will hold a sample coin or quarter token. Whatever you put in there will be what the machine accepts. But you can't change to say 50 cents without making some changes to the coin comp.  the hopper etc. Hope that helps.

that does help . so if i had to order it set for tokens  then i could just swap the coin in the comparitor to a quarter and be good to go . that is what i was hoping for .

what about ordering it set for quarters is that a no go if i ordered it from like say ohio g#### ?

i was going to order  coin in coin out
                             bill verifier
                             ticket in out
anything wrong with that or anything i need to add ?

by the way i was looking at a double diamond hay wire with preimium sound .
i figure i will need a clear chip and key chip  , any thing else to get the most out of this  ?

Wowsers, sounds like you know what you want. I think as long as you tell them you want it set up to accept quarters you'll be set. You can change it to tokens if you want. I don't know if they'll install TITO or not but you can get the parts here if they don't. But your best bet is to call and inquire. That way you'll know exactly what you're getting. The only thing I see you are missing is having it shipped to my house.  :rotfl:  I think you have a great start. Buy a good surge protector for your investment.

As anyone on here will tell you. These things multiply like rabbits. Once you start you're hooked. But I think you're doing the right thing, checking stuff out, reading and asking questions. There is a lot of knowledge on this site. I think you'll do okay.

If you are asking about us .. we can build it the way you want and when it arrives it will be plug and play. Shipping two machines saves on shipping cost too.

I was asking about you guys . Glad to know i'm fine to order it any way I want .
I wasn't sure what the proper etiquette was in this industry .
Or if it could ship to any state .
If there is anything else that you can think of that I should get I'm all ears .

The state laws vary.  You will need to discuss with your vendor to see if they will ship to your state if it is legal to own a slot there.  If you are going to have printers in the machines, I would ask for TITO boards to be installed, so you can take the tickets and feed them back into the machine.  Unlike casinos, you can take the tickets out of the cash can and re-use them.  That way you never need cash around to feed credits to the slot

thanks again rick hunter , this is all very helpfull .

now how about hopper overflow . when the hopper is full and it diverts the coins to a container that i presume goes in the stand under the slot machine.
is this already built into the machine or do i need to add parts for that function .

There's a chute that leads the coins into a whole on the bottom of the cabinet.  A lot of slot cabinets come with this hole and casinos usually put it a bag to capture the coins.  But unless you are planning to put in a couple thousand quarters or tokens, I wouldn't worry about it.  At the very worst, if you have the slot stand with the matching hole, just put a bucket under it to catch the coins.  I have about 1,200 quarters in my hopper, and it's about 1/2 full, I've never had a coin go  in the chute, other than the time I had a diverter issue and it was stuck in the wrong position.

so all the parts for that come standard in the machine ?
i was planing to fil the hopper to start with . i didn't know that it would hold a couple thousand quarters , for some reason i thought i read that it would only hold like a thousand . but what ever the max is i planed to fill it to start .
the over flow will be like a piggy bank for my wife .
and starting with a full hopper would make it were she shouldn't need to mess with it  while playing when i am at work . she is not very techy just wants to play . i'm not much of a player but will be taking care of it for her .
she wants it to be fed quarters and have it spit out quarters on each win like the old days at the casino .  not have it bank up credits .
how long should a hopper last using it that way ? are there any wear and tear parts that i should order with the machine to use it this way ? or any way it is used ?

You know your heart is in the right place but..........You don't want a machine to pay out 2000+ quarters. That's a lot of work for a hopper. The casinos didn't even do that. I set mine to about 200 or so coins. Then when you hit bigger, you get a hand pay that you can clear with the jackpot reset key. Hoppers are cheap to buy but expensive to ship. If she runs out of quarters show her how to open the door and get some out. She'll feel like the Boss doing that. In some of my machines I've taken the drop slot out and put a flat raised side pan in to catch the overflow if that's what you want. Some of my hoppers are quite small. The hopper is like anything else 20+ years old. The harder you use it the faster it breaks down. Now the rest of you get your minds out of the gutter. Anyway that's my take on this. The knives are usually one thing to break down, but if you use things gently they will last longer and save money in the long run.

Hmm, does the S2000 have cash play?  (i.e. win and it pays out immediately, or is it only credits and hopper action only after you cash out).  I know the S+ does have that, but I'm not entirely sure about the S2000,.

Set credit limit to match max bet and you should be good to go. Not sure you can set it at zero. Wins that match max bet or less will go to credit so it's not a complete solution

Yeah I was thinking about the S+ set up. Okay He wants to have a printer and a hopper. If it doesn't pay out coins on wins and goes to credits instead, what will stop the TITO system from printing a ticket when he cashes out? Aren't the two of these going to cause a conflict? Unless the hopper can be set to pay out X number amount and then a ticket for the rest. I need another cup of coffee.

you can do partial pay so that ant pay below a certain amount is paid by hopper and anything above that printer.
