OK are the LEDs on the reels factory LEDs or LEDs that someone replaced in a standard incandescent set of reels.
Why do I  ask? If they are factory LED reels you have the wrong reel harness and controller. If they are standard reels with replaced LEDs then the set up should be working.

How would I check to see if they are factory LEDs? Why would factory leds mean the reels are wrong? Did they not have LEDs on any S2000?

The factory LED reels used a different reel harness and controller. The factory LED harness will have 1 black plug that plugs into the controller board.

Your harness has no black plug going to the controller. Your controller does not have the second black socket for factory LED reel harness.
If the LEDs in your reels are removable then you have a standard incandescent reel that was converted to LED and the harness and controller you have should work.
Snap a picture of the reel looking at the LED and I can tell you what you have.

The newer led controllers are backward comparable and can drive both types of reels. The harness you need is a 62303000W or just ask for a 5 reel LED harness. It will have 2 white molex plugs and a smaller 16 pin black molex plug. All three will plug into the controller board

The harness you have is probably a 60753605A

Ok. So I will need to get an updated Backlight Controller and an updated harness to make these work. What is your best guess? Did someone just stick these newer LED reels in an older machine?


Also how do I know if the controller I buy is an updated LED that works for both? The part numbers for the harness really help out.

I believe you are correct someone replaced the reels not realizing the harness and controller would have to be changed.
For you this is a good thing the factory LED reels are brighter and probably newer. Not to mention the harness and controller will cost a lot less to ship than a set of reels would.
Contact member RB or member Jim either should be able to help you get the correct parts.

Thank you both for the information and links. One final question before I order the parts. Since these reels are not the original reels, Will they even light the correct symbols once I replace the board and harness? This is a 30 line machine. I have seen some reels that have 5 lights in them. The ones I have only have 3 LEDS in them

They will work perfectly the R board software controls which lights. I don't believe I have ever seen 5 lights in a 5 reel

I recently bought a 5 reel double gold with an R board that the mpu had the varta but voltage was at 2.3volts, i tried a known good board with the u16 and varta removed and i had your same issue.  I soldered in a new varta to my first board that had it with the u16 in place and  the machine came to life and has been playing perfectly since, that was the fix for my machine. The chips you have are also the same as mine,  they should be correct for that r board,  they are just to boot and run the reels, game specifics are flashed into all those soldered in chips on the board.

Were you able to get the sizzling 7 5 reel going?

Both machines are up and running. I did replace both motherboards with units that have the Varta battery in place. Both of the non-working units had the batteries removed as well as the associated components. Maybe these machines do require a motherboard with a working Varta as you say. I have no way to test that theory.
