I have an Aunt that got a slot machine that I'm 90% sure is an S-2000. She got in for cheep as is was reading out "RAM ERROR" and beeping.
First on the game board I noticed that the Power Capacitor and the Battery was corroded so I replaced both. This seem to go well.
I read up on the "RAM ERROR" issues and I thought all I needed was the "IGT Clear IVC00097" and the "IGT Key 17" chips. I followed the clear procedure to this step.
-Power the game up, and clear the error codes. The first error will be RAM ERROR, to clear this turn the JP reset keyswitch. The next message shows "GAME EPROM CRC MISMATCH", again turn the JP reset keyswitch to clear. The next message shows "SOME CRITICAL DATA WILL BE LOST" again turn the JP reset keyswitch to clear. The next message shows the following directions "PRESS TEST BUTTON FOR 2-3 SECONDS" and then "PLEASE CLOSE DOOR"
It should say go to the next step of 'CALL ATTENDANT", open the door and the display will show a "EEPROM ERROR or Chip Missmach"
But all I get is the machine booting and the displaying "Primary SAS Down"
I tried to clear it a few more times but I don't think the RAM is clearing but can't seem to get past this step.
any advice? I will note that when I power on game with the clear chip in ALL amber and red lights are on the board.
Do I need a different Key or clear chip?
