Operation Fault 0x0000002
« on: May 25, 2017, 12:44:35 PM »
I just got a nine line kit installed into one of my S2000 cabinets. Before installing, I swapped out the 5-5-2 set-up for a 6-6-3

After doing the clear/key set-up, the machine plays great, but.....

After sitting idle for maybe 10 minutes or so...I get the Call Attendant on the display. I open the door and get the following message...System Error. I turn the attendant key and get this message:
Operation Fault 0x0000002

I turn the attendant key a couple more times...the machine then prompts me to hold down the reset button for 2-3 seconds. Once I do that, the machine boots back up...but all the credits that were in the machine are gone.

I did disconnect the meters and ran a jumper on the 1st 2 pins....(I hate hearing those meters clicking away when I insert bills).

What do I need to look at? The CPU has a new CR2032 installed. I removed the Varta a while back. There is no acid damage on the board.

I failed to mention in my original post....

When this error occurs, I lose all of the credits that were in the machine. The machine also loses the enhanced sound setting I had installed.

The machine is running a 504 CPU w/ multimedia lite, DSV42

Update...

I let the machine sit, with credits loaded...

I get the Call attendant again.

This time, when I turned the attendant key I get this message:

cmos mgr invalid state -0x8000020

Try reseating/replacing the U2 chip on the backplane board
Also is your cion battery soldered in or does it have a holder?
If it's a holder check those connections also.

I just had a new thing happen...

I left the machine on, in another room, when I went to check on it, the machine was making a clicking noise, and flashing on and off. I pulled the CPU, pulled and re-seated all of the chips. It's running again.

Thanks for the advice qbert....I'll re-seat that chip as well.

Still can't complain...the original machine only cost me $45. I have a lot more than that in it now.

Latest update...

When the machine started "wigging out", I re-seated the power supply a few times. That, along with re-seating the chips on the CPU, might have fixed my problem. The machine has been powered up, with credits for well over an hour now...no call attendant!!!!

knocking on wood...

I'm assuming you changed the harness from the 5-5-2 to 6-6-3 variety & possibly the button panel. Look for any unused red wire (+13V) under that button panel. It should have a protective boot over the terminal to prevent contact with the metal on the button panel. If it touches any metal (ground out), it will cause similar problems lamps flashing off & on, clicking. There may be more than one unused.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Thanks Ron,

I changed the harness, but not the button deck.

I'll take a look at it.

Have to admit, It's one of my prettier IGT's...

She's totally LEDed now. The frosting on the glass is mint. I even found a topper plexi.
