Just to review:

After TOTAL CLEAR MACHINE SETTINGS

After a SafeRAMâ„¢ Clear and restart:

The Set EEPROM Options screen then displays (not necessarily in this order) the settings for
CURRENT JURISDICTION, PRIMARY HOST, SECONDARY HOST, SAS® VERSION,
CHASSIS TYPE, COIN ACCEPTOR, BILL ACCEPTOR, HOPPER TYPE,
DOUBLE DOWN, TOURNAMENT, SECONDARY DEVICE and RESIDUAL
CREDIT MODE.

Coin Acceptor:
The choices for COIN ACCEPTOR are
COIN ACCEPTOR ONLY -This is the one I use.
COIN ACCEPTOR AND COD BOARD,
NRI. COIN ACCEPTOR ONLY

COIN ACCEPTOR AND COD BOARD refer to the
presence or absence of a coin optic decoder (COD)
board (Bally part # AS-03356-0303). Some versions
of Main programs offer choices for Coin Mechanisms,
Inc., CC-62 or CC-16 coin acceptors. The CC-62 does
not require a COD board. The CC-16 does.
NRI refers to the National Rejectors, Inc., brand of
programmable coin acceptors and the processing of
coin information for this acceptor.
Other brands of coin acceptors may be compatible if
they conform to the size and electrical operation of
these acceptors.

If you have gone through the entire setup, started the machine, and the Acceptor still does not work,
open the door and turn the Reset Key on the upper right side of the machine.
Highlight over the Coin\Bill Validator and hit SELECT.  The test screen will appear.
If the coin Coin Acceptor is not present then try another Acceptor setting on the "Set EEPROM Options" screen.
If you try all the options and the acceptor is still not present, I think the acceptor may be bad.
If it sees the acceptor,  check the ERROR codes then
drop a coin in the slot and check the error codes again.
This might help to isolate the problem.
Good luck.
PS. When I had a similar problem, I found a wire in the acceptor had disconnected from the solder head.

Make sure the small switch on the front is turned on always.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.
