Had an unusual situation with my S2000 5R 9 line game I was working today.I just got it un-shopped so I knew I was going to run into problems.
Every time the game came to an end, the 9 lines I was betting and playing with switched back to a 7 lines bet?
So I had to re-hit the 9 line bet to cover all the lines and hit the Start button on the 10-button deck to play 9 lines!
This is what I did to solve the problem...>>>
First thing I did was shut down the machine and pull the cord out of the wall socket.
I pulled the switch off the 7 Line bet button and visually inspected it...all seemed okay.
I took a multimeter to it to make make the switch was opening and closing correctly...it was, but I earlier thought that would be the culprit since a stuck switch internally - would open OR close the circuit.
Next move was to follow the wires for a short.
This particular wire was yellow w/orange stripe.
It routed to the I/O card on the inside of the door panel to the 7th pin of the mating header.
I was just about to check for continuity in that wire when I decided to look at the I/O card itself.
It's an [802] model.
I visually checked the [J41] header pins under a magnifying lamp and took these pictures below for your enjoyment....lol
Click on photos to enlarge if needed.
The 1st one is the [802] I/O card that functions as an errand boy between the button deck and the MPU in the back wall of the cabinet.
The second photo is inside the I/O card looking at a few of the 80 pins of the [J41] header.
Look at the 7th pin from the left on the bottom row...
