IGame sound tilt, no more sounds
« on: September 17, 2019, 12:31:58 PM »
Last night my igame cleopatra gave a tilt about sound, I acknowledged it and it disappeared and I don't remember the exact message however since then I am not getting the audio features when you hit a special symbol, insert a voucher or cashout, there is still a beep when you spin or when the reel stops but not really multimedia..
I replaced the multimedia board to see if that was the culprit but that didn't help, I don't have a spare DSS00235 laying around to replace it.
In the test menu I can do the synthesized sound test and it gives me some tunes through the speakers, the digitized sound test shows no filenames in the sound title menu when I start it. I do hear some soft popping in the speakers while running the test.
Is there anything I can try? I check the amp board, it looks okay to me? I would not expect those simms to become corrupt all of a sudden?
Thanks for your help.

I'm from Europe.

The SIMM would be my guess. I've had a few go bad. On a S2000 it will all of a sudden start playing the legacy sound instead of enhanced when that happens. It's virtually not recognizing the SIMM being present. You can try running it without the SIMM & see if anything changes from it's current state. That would be a pretty good indicator. Good luck.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

I was gonna say SIMM as well, I've heard they can be an issue. Knock wood I've had no issues with mine, def agree with RB eliminate the SIMM and see if it indicates a problem with it

Got a replacement SIMM, I think this is the same error message I got with the original one... So it's not the SIMM?

Are you sure your replacement simm works?  I would try to use the eraser end of a pencil and just run it through the simm contacts to make sure they are clean.  Also check your mpu to make sure there's no visible damage to the simm socket where the Simm goes. (or multimedia lite board)

Make sure all the dip switches on the sound simm are set to off.

Does the RAM need to be cleared because the new SIMM has a different signature?

No.  It calculates and checks the signature during power on self tests as the machine boots.
