Custom "Big Lebowski" glass for an IGT S+ 16" Top -- thoughts?

I've almost finished the design for aglass /reel replacement for an Double Jackpot Haywire IGT S+ 16" cabinet.  Would love thoughts / feedback..

yeah.. the more I look at it the more i want a custom jackpot symbol --And I'm thinking of getting rid of the Time mirror as a Bar symbol.. I think there are better symbols to use.  I think even a bowling ball or a bowling pin would be better.

For the jackpot symbol I was trying to think of something that really screamed dollar signs or winning from the movie -- a double bowling strike symbol, the ringer, but I just can't put my finger on what i want to use.


Here's what i had come up with as possible reel symbols:


    - The gran torino
    - In n Out Symbols
    - Ralph's Symbol / Ralphs card
    - The ringer
    - Brand't doing the shrgging "HAAAAAAAA that's marvelous" laugh after the whole "for 1000 dollars" scene
    - A cash machine
    - A severed toe
    - Viking Helmet
    - The big lebowski's head
    - The dude's head
    - Walter's head
    - Donny's Head
    - The Jesus licking the ball
    - Sobchak Security Van
    - The suitcase car phone
    - Bowling Ball
    - Bowling Pin
    - a "NO GOLF" or a "NO GOLFER" sign (like the no smoking sign) ---- because...obviously you're not a golfer
   - A swiss miss character (stranger in the alps).
   - One of the nihilists in the red jumpsuit with the scissors.

If your going down the road of custom reel strips I would replace all the symbols with items from your list.


For a Jackpot Symbol    ==== DUDE ==== or perhaps use that for a BAR replacement.
Then use Jeff Bridges face with the scraggily beard as the Jackpot Symbol

I finished this theme and wanted to share it.  My major issues with it in my original post were :


   - The double jackpot theme
   - The jackpot symbol
   - The Mirror Bar symbol -- it was almost the same shape as the rug and looked repetitive
   - The rug symbol was too drab, color wise.


I landed on "Double Strike!" as the "game name"-- wanted something bowling related.  Also came up with a symbol integrating the game name, money, and the Dude.


I also replaced the mirror with the viking helmet, and brightened out the rug on the single bar symbol.  Unless I decide on custom Reel glass, I consider this theme complete.








EDIT: And... I just noticed it still says "Double Jackpot" on the bottom right of the top glass and Symbols is spelled wrong -- patched those up as well.. :-/

Very nice!  If you want to get the last IGT element out of it, you could replace the "Haywire!" logo with a Walter/"World Gone Crazy" logo and say that certain pays will "Go Crazy" and repeat the pay.

Yeah I had thought about that.  Or calling it “OVER THE LINE!”.


But Haywire slots were always my favorite back in the day... I used to hunt them down, so that’s the one thing I wanted to keep for now.

It's too bad that IGT design engineers aren't as creative as you are.  No need to completely create a new hardware platform for EVERY game theme (if you just think creatively on a re-theme of a 20+ year old game)!

Not that I would use the word creative but many IGT themes are clones of each other.
There is a large financial incentive NOT to invent new games and reuse existing paytables due to the large cost of becoming certified.


The Nevada gaming board certifies the games and many jurisdictions adopt the Nevada games book as gospel but there are many that don't, not to mention countries. Ie Canada certifies all of the games and its the manufacturer that pays.


Now with regards to IGT S, S+, S2000, Vision, AVP.... etc many games like Double Diamond started out in the S series and are available in the latest greatest platforms for the same reason. From a hardware perspective IGT kills off their older platforms in a sense of planned obsolescence so they an sell more hardware.  They also only lease certain themes and have a revenue participation model. They dont sell them. Wheel of Fortune is just such a game. Most of these types of games in the wild have been pieced together from multiple dumpster dives.
