How to re calibrate a WBA
« on: August 20, 2023, 02:20:51 PM »
This is just a simple post of things I found on this site in different places and I compiled them all together in one spot for the next person looking to do this.

Go here and create this calibration paper from Sirius7's post, its pretty simple.

https://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=26344.msg138596#msg138596

Once you have the test calibration paper made, follow these instructions one by one and the paper will go in, stay in and move back and forth for about five times before spitting it out. When the memory was done my bezel flashed quickly, then I could shut the machine off put all the switches back, restart the machine with the validator back in and test it. It worked great and I was able to read tickets again with no problem, where before it may take 1,2 or 10 times before it would read them, bills always seemed to read fine.

Auto-Calibration - Sensors Description

-After the Acceptors components have been disassembled
for repair.
-After a sensor board has been replaced.
-Whenever Bill/Note acceptance is degraded.
-During scheduled Preventive Maintenance.
-When upgrading, downloading software.
Procedures

1. Remove Transport unit w/head.
2. Set Dip switches 5, 6, 7, & 8 to the ON position, all
others to the OFF position(see pic).
3. Connect Transport unit w/head to power source -
either host machine, or adaptive power supply.
4. Listen for activation of transport motor - forward and
reverse for up to 2 seconds, then stop - READY.
5. After inserting the calibration paper, black paper first, the
unit will carry the paper forward/
reverse several times. When the
process is complete, the unit will
return the paper.
6. Wait a few moments to allow for
complete transfer of calibration data to be stored in
memory. This is indicated via the LED on the test
harness, or the bezel light on some applications with fast
blinks.
7. Unsuccessful Calibrations - Check the lenses. Re-try
calibration. If necessary, refer to Error Conditions Chart
on the next page. Additional testing/troubleshooting may
be required.
Part #501-000032
Calibration sets a starting reference point for all optical
sensors within the unit. This can be done at the host unit or
at the work bench with just a power source.
When to Calibrate
Note: When installing a new CPU, you must recalibrate.

All switches up(off) for normal operation

Down for on 5,6,7,8

Unit right side up the farthest switch to the right is 1, farthest left is 8
Reads right to left

Good luck, hope this helps someone.
