You have a JCM Bill validator and you correctly selected JCM Billval in the device setup, so assuming the bill validator is working, it should work.  If you would have selected MEI or the wrong type you'd have to clear the machine again and start all over.

What's the history of the machine?  Did the validator work in the past or is the machine new to you?

If they had MPU on a different machine it probably needs cleared. I would clear machine with correct clear card and start over.

Also pull the validator out and make sure that it has a RS-232 board mounted on the left side of the transport and that it plugged in to the side of the transport fully.  There's supposed to be a screw in it to hold it in place, but they're often missing.  Also check the bottom of the transport and make sure it has an EPROM installed (if it has a socket installed).  If it's labeled see if it says ID003 on it.  Sometime validators end up in machines with the wrong protocol firmware installed.

You have the right validator in it or you wouldn't have gotten rid of the bill validator comm error.  The new error indicates the door is open on the stacker.  Make sure the door is closed completely and see if the error goes away.  If not check the door switch with a multimeter and make sure it's working correctly.

To change denomination and configuration you have to clear.
