Who fixes WMS NXT3.2 MPUs?

Hi guys,

I have an NXT3.2 MPU that has all of a sudden started rebooting.  Another MPU is fine.  Video card is fine as well.  Something on the MPU or an Adastra board I would think.

Anyway, if you know a reputable person/company, let me know.

I'd try to get in touch with Lookes?
See if he knows anything about 'em?

But first, pop out the memory stick on the adastra, clean the gold tabs with an white eraser, and stick it back in...or try a different one.
I remember an BB2 MPU giving me fits and changed everything on it but the memory stick was the problem.

If you remove the fan assembly on top of the adastra the SODIMS are clearly visible.  They should be a pair of ddr3 2gb memory modules. 

Edited to show correct DDR ram type.

Ok guys, this is strange.  So I ordered two new 2GB  sticks of RAM and an SSD from GET-T.  I thought I’d start with the easy stuff, so I tried the RAM.  Guess what?  It formatted fine and booted right up as normal.  I was playing Wonka like normal…until…a bonus round.  The bonus rounds would lock up and post an error pointing to memory.  So I turned the key and looked under system info, and the line item for RAM only showed 2GB.  I rebooted and at post, the same thing. 

So I put my working MPU in, and it posted 4GB.  So I’m taking everything out, and reseating, and I sprayed some DeOxit in the RAM slots and the Adastra sockets.  I swapped the RAM around too.  No change. 

If nothing changes, is it the Adastra board?

Also, Rick, in the manual, I saw a photo that shows PC3 DDR3 sticks…will this matter?

OMG, you are correct.  I just went and opened up the mpu and indeed PC3 memory.  I apologize.  DDR2 would not have fit anyway, physically different SODimm, so the pins and notch do not line up.

Not a problem at all.  I was thinking though, since the game is only recognizing 2GB (one of the sticks), if I throw a single 4GB stick in, would that work?

It ended up being a bad stick of RAM.  I even cleaned the contacts and sprayed DeOxit in the socket.  I installed another stick and it’s now right as rain.

I have 8 GB of ram on a NXT3.2, so I'm thinking the 4gb stick should work, but I am running ArgOS on it, haven't really tried using legacy OS.

Hold the phone…still rebooting. 

2 MPUs
6 sticks of RAM
Tonight I changed out the backplane…which sucked by the way.  Blew out the power supplies too with canned air.  So far it’s holding together.  I wonder if something was overheating.

Beyond that, all I can think of is a wiring harness short or a power supply. 

Maybe I should part this one out and buy a Blade.
