How to Fix "HANDLE Down" IGT S2000 ???
« on: October 17, 2022, 05:42:05 PM »
Thinking of buying this machine but he says the handle is stuck down. If it goes back up? What would the fix be? A spring came unhooked?  ...If it's stuck down what would the fix be?  ...worst case scenario what would the fix be?  I guess the machine works fine.

Thanks

P.S. He wants $1200...$600 would be better, but at some point I was going to offer him $800.

a lot of times it is just the crank release mech is stuck, although you can't rule some sort of a broken part.  You should be able to source the handle mech without much issue anyway.  $1,200 for an S2000 with no coin in/out is kind of steep, even if you are in one of those markets where you can't find anything.

Yes, I got 5 S2000's so far, all with coin handling and the most I ever paid was $700...all off Craigslist/Facebook. So I would never pay $1200. $800 max if I get desperate, like if no machines pop up for 3 months and I have a bunch of extra cash.

Handle stuck down is commonly caused by a broken torsion spring or the ear broken off of the ratchet pawl from people slamming the handle down with excessive force. Figure on a mechanism unless you have one laying around to steal parts from. Even if you get it released, it will likely stick again.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

You can probably get a handle solenoid for less than $50 shipped... but $1200 is an insane price for that machine.  I'd keep looking ; just my opinion.  Next time you find a slot to purchase; just inquire about it here with a pic  and the asking price. Members on the site are awesome and won't steer you wrong.   Again, just my opinion.  Bill

Bill, Thank you! Yes, I have hit up the Forum a few times asking about machine values. NGL is always my "Secret Weapon"

I really appreciate the advice guys!

I don't have time for this channel because I do Youtube full time as my day job....so I'm not supposed to do it on the weekends... But I have a few videos on my "Slot Channel"

more to come when I get some free time (or retire)!

Thanks again guys!

and RB, thanks for those schematics. I will know exactly what's up if I decide to go see it. I'm sure it will sit on Craigslist forever at that price. If I buy it at some point I'll be sure to update this thread with some pics..and the fix!

many things can cause the handle to stay down, first thing is to see if you can get it back up. reach in and push the solenoid plunger UP, this should release the mechanics,  the part RB mentioned could be the issue, that part also needs some lubrication if it hasn't been used in a while, the other thing that could be happening, the hammer plate has melted away, (orange goop running down the cabinet wall). when this part is gone, the inertia of the handle flying back up into position will cause it to bounce down and lock into  place.

the best way to replace the handle is to remove the bill unit metal housing, makes it easier to see what you are doing and replacing the nuts on the bolts.

make sure the replacement handle has a good hammer plate, or you will be spinning your wheels.

Hope this helps

Jim
