S2000 2 to 3 line?
« on: January 22, 2015, 01:55:23 PM »
Kinda a newbie question, but you don't learn if you don't ask. If I put a 3 line coin into my 2 coin machine are there any other changes that I need to make to the machine?

You want to change a 2 coin 1 payline game to a 3 coin 1 payline game?  Or a 3 payline 3 coin game?  In either case, you only need the glass, strips, and eproms/simms.  You can get away without chaning the reel glass, but if you want it to look original you will have to change that as well.

Let me more specific and clear. My S2000 is a one payline, 2 coin game. What are the steps and accessories need to change to a 3 coin game? Or even taking it a step further, changing to a 3 payline game? I have had fun changing games but all have been single payline 2 coin games. I am just wanting to be able to change over to some different options to learn more and have some more fun. I think, and I can be wrong, that I should be able to change over to either option just with changing the game chip, glass and reel strips. But I haven't done this type of change and wish to know for sure. So please help me take my education another step further. Dang these are addictive to work with!

So, yes the answer is as I posted.  In fact, MOST of the time, you can just change the SB chip and go from 2 coin to 3 coin, but of course your glass paytable won't match, the game will play correctly.  The only time you need to change hardware inside the machine is when you change the number of reels (going from 3 to 4 or 5 reels).  Also when you go to a 9 payline game, some people like to get the led indicator on the side that tells you how many coins per line were bet, but it is not a requirement.

Also when you go to 9 line and even some 5 line you may need to change to a 10 button deck if the game has multiple bets per line.
