hi gang  i just got in my first IGT S2000 machine.  it appears dead.  i pulled the green battery. it is toast.  this is a 1270 board so i guess i need the green battery so i order both batteries and will replace them next week.  if the green battery was toast, would the game just sit there and appeear dead without any error codes showing?

also i don't have any paperwork of manuals for this. i don't even know what this thing should do if it is working right.....i don't know what the led's mean....they are all lit and the bottom red one is blinking at a 1 second rate.......i have checked connections.....any ideas???

From your picture I do not see any reels installed. What else is missing.
Open machine and take a few pictures and post them.
Was this machine working when you got it?
Need more information.

Post a picture of your CPU tray to see if all the required software is present.  You may be missing that.  Blinking  red light usually means no software.

The middle pic you posted is the Power Distribution Unit. Disregard the lights on there. Focus on the lights on the MPU tray only (bottom pic).

ya i took those pictures with the reels out....the game acts the same anyway.....and it seems to have its parts.  i did notice one socket on the motherboard that appeared a chip used to be there but that of course could be due to an upgrade along the way......so here are the pics.....

the present state of the machine is no green battery.....i pulled it...it was dead.....

you guys rock btw thanks......i worked in the amusement field for 30 years and working on slots was forbidden.....so i have some cat hing up to do on these...this is my first S2000.......we got 3 machines in trade so god knows what happened......

Looks like it is all there. You will need the green battery installed for that board to work. While your at it check the voltage of the coin battery on that board also. If it is below 2.8 it needs to be replaced also.

so would the game just appear dead without the batteries? and does anyone have any troubleshooting info running around so i know what these led's are telling me?  this is my learning curve....but don't worry guys....i know what an EEprom is:)

Low battery can trip all kinds of problems that don't really exist. Start there and see where we go after that.

 :I_agree_1: You will be chasing your tail until then. I think there are vendors here (not me unfortunately) that sell the green Varta battery and the regular battery together.

i see no evidence of leakage....

ok so i have replaced both batteries....they were both dead 0 volts......

still no joy........all led's lit but the bottom one blinking about once a second.......next idea??

+++++++++++++++HOLD DA PHONE IT JUST CAME TO LIFE.....++++++++++++++

it gave me a memory error...to be expected......i reset it and reset it then it came up....i put in 2 quarters, hit spin, it played the tune, was spinning before the third wheel stopped it said netplex is down.......the bottom 3 leds (above the red) were out....i off/on now nothing......


so i am guessing the varta chip had to charge up? but now what?

Check the power supply to be sure it's seated and in tight. It's a 7"x11" silver box (with round vent holes in the cover) located on the back wall. The power supply can shake loose sometimes during transport and cause a NetPlex Down error.

thanks for your input, guys...

i left for a couple of hours and when i returned the game was functioning. i did the obligatory resets and now the game seems to be bulletproof and happy.....

my guess is the Varta battery needed time to charge? does that sound right?

but one last question i have is about the bulbs behind the reels.....how do you access them? what number are they? lol and who has them?  do i have to pull off the reel tape to get to the bilbs or do these things slide out somehow?

the bulb type is a 359.  You can twist off the bulb holder from behind the fixture.  You have to pull the reel out of the machine to make it easier.  Most people like to pull the reel strip off to avoid any accidental damage.

The varta battery needs some time to charge you are correct.
The bulbs are in a black holder and are removed from behind with a quarter turn counter clockwise.
I would use the same xzenon bulbs as others tend to overheat the sockets. Or there are some good led bulbs that work really well. Not sure of the numbers others will chime in.
Glad you got it working. Trouble shooting always change batteries first.
