Play Nickels Win Eisenhower Dollars
« on: December 15, 2019, 09:41:36 AM »
Interesting slot. Bally model 922-D-1. Can't quite make out the year—looks like 1972?

So the hopper would be filled with dollar coins? I bet the coin box would have been constantly overflowing!

I am looking at it, but it says doesn't register coins in any more. not sure if that would be an easy fix or more trouble than it's worth.

it does appear to be a unique monster.

That would have been an easy fix.

It's here now—I'll save photos for future postings: https://monterey.craigslist.org/atq/d/carmel-bally-ike-dollar-slot-machine/7062960722.html

From Craigslist:
Selling my vintage Bally Dollar Slot machine. This is a very rare Bally that takes nickels and pays out in Eisenhower Silver Dollars!! Model 922-1-1. For years it played beautifully with flashing lights and payouts. Now it needs an adjustment as the nickels just go thru without triggering the handle. Someone who know how to adjust these can easily return it to glory. The value is more than i am asking. Local pickup or i have the name of someone who delivers anywhere in the USA.
I have three more slot machines that may be available. I am having a hard time letting these old friends go to new homes.

Joe - can you post a few shots of where the nickels drop and what the dollar "hopper" looks like. Is it an actual hopper?

Here are some pics of my machine.  It is the same mechanically as any other EM. It has a dollar hopper that directs the payout coins as normal.  The difference in the machine is that the inserted coins are always diverted to the drop chute. I have a blue bucket to catch the nickels. Here's a link to a short video of the game in play.  https://youtu.be/w4DOkezpVAQ

Are the coins in the belly glass just for show or do they keep the hopper full?  Whoever the operator is would need to monitor the coin supply since they don't get automatically replenished.  Interesting gimmick.

The coins in the belly glass are just for show, and you're right,  a gimmick of a game.

Found one of these (maybe not same brand or model) in a smaller Reno joint in the mid 70's. It actually paid off pretty well, so I kept plugging it. Came home with a bag full of Dollar coins.Went back a few months later: disappeared!(I must say that for serious (fun) gambling I much prefer Reno to Vegas. And nothing beats the old-time flavour of the dark dingy welll-used-broad feeling of the Cal Neva!)
