Bally E2270-174 question
« on: December 18, 2019, 11:37:26 AM »
I've had this machine for a little over 2 months now and I finally hit the triplebar combo for 500 coins but the machine stopped paying out at 200 coins, the music kept playing and the buzzer went off to alert an "attendant". The only way I could continue playing the machine was to turn the attendant key and when I turned the key the music just stopped and insert coin popped up. What is curious to me is why the machine stopped paying at 200 coins since I have hit the doublebar 250 coins on multiple occasions with the machine paying that amount of coins. The hopper itself has more than enough coins to pay out. My question is if there is any way to override having to turn the key if I hit the triplebar or 777 combinations (which I have not hit the 777 combo yet either) and pay out the full amount of coins. Attached is the photo of the triplebar hit, also note that I opened the door after the machine stopped paying out to make sure there were enough coins in the hopper prior to turning the attendant key that is why there is a code 71.

While I can't really help with bypassing it, I do have a hunch as to why you've gotten larger payouts before without hitting a jackpot lock-up and needing to use the key. I have a Bally E 2214-38, and the front panel has a notice that reads "200 coins paid by machine when jackpot is 600 coins or more - balance paid by attendant" (picture attached). It's still possible to get 200 - 599 coins paid out by the machine on a smaller win (or 500 at least, that's the highest sub-600 value on the pay table), but if you hit 600+, you get only 200 out. Why this design decision was made is beyond my knowledge, but it sounds like something similar is at play on your own machine- with the jackpot threshold being somewhere at or below 500, but above 250.

Could there be a dip switch setting?  I still can't figure out what MPU Dips 2-6 do...
