785 Money Honey paying incorrectly. SOLVED !

My 785 Money Honey is running perfectly except it wants to pay on two plums and a watermelon, it also pays on two bells and a watermelon.
(1) I’ve been all over the reel card / wiper board with my fluke ohmmeter, didn’t find anything that looked suspicious.
(2) I tried moving the stop index wheel to the three other possible positions, That didn’t help .

Sounds to me like the watermelon and the bar buttons on the third reel contact plate may be touching. Have you tried locating the bar stop and watermelon stops to see of there are any wires touching? Also check the wiper fingers to be sure that they line up exactly on the dots.

The bars fall on the third row of contacts on the reel card , the watermelons fall on the fifth row .
I also discovered the bar bar watermelon also pays . So the watermelon thinks it’s a bar .
The only way that the third row of contacts and the fifth row ohm to each other is through that little wire.

Good discovery. Appears that someone wanted the machine to pay on either bars or watermelons so they soldered a jumper between the two. Try un-soldering one end and see what happens.

Thanks , I ran my ohmmeter on the reel cards for an hour or so , and I understand how it pays now , I elected to clip the wire so the watermelon would stop thinking it was a bar , anyways eureka! I tested it and it works .

You are welcome. I would suspect that the person who did the original jumper put a lot of effort into making it happen and I suppose increase the payout percentages.

There’s a lot going on on those reel cards , intimidating at first but truly simple after spending an hour plus diagnosing with a ohmmeter.

In the past for what reason I don’t remember. I jumped some buttons, but instead of a straight jump.

There you can use slide on connectors thus allowing the circuit to be open or closed fairly quickly.


Now that I’ve thought about it, kinda rings a bell...

What are slide on connectors? Sounds useful. do you have a photo?

There’s probably a more technical name for this type of connector.
Basically it just slides onto its male counterpart. "Slide on connector"
In this case it would be the soldering lugs at the top of the wiper board.
Then it could be used as an easy access switch.


Side note pertaining to photo upload size.
Recently within the past few months the iPad gives you a real time option to adjust the photo size.
By lowering the MB photos can be upload to the NLG site no problem.
