SPC2.5 Setup on Aussie Backplane questions
« on: February 24, 2020, 10:08:20 PM »
Hello all. I am trying to get an SPC2.5 working on an Aussie MK6. I have read the US manuals and I can see that serial port to use is P19 and P23. This maps to  SOUT2 and SIN2, which is output on P15 on the Aussie back-plane when using the 410748 CCB. I know this port works, as I have been using it for a different protocol.

Currently the game is not seeing the SPC board, so clearly I have something wrong.

I guess the first question I have, is that the SPC2.5 board has LED for transmit and receive. On P2 (Gamma/EGM), the LED is flashing, and when I look at the data on an oscilloscope it looks like its sending 2-3 bytes repeated. Is this normal? Does the SPC transmit data on P2 even if not connected to the EGM?

When I look at the diagnostic page for the SPC, it does not show any data being received or sent.

I can use my logic analyser to verify the data that is being sent on P2 if needed.

Second question, do I need the SAS port connected and polling before the EGM will see the SPC2.5?

Thanks,

Bogan.

I can't say anything about your first question, but I can say about your second question that SPC2.5 communicates with the machine regardless of whether it is polled by SAS.

The SPC2.5 around 300 commands to activate communication with the machine, I have been studying about the topic but I have not been able to find the complete protocol, what I know has been using a protocol analyzer, a pity that there is not much protocol information Gamma or Aristocrat serial protocol

I plan to put a protocol analyser on it as well. Perhaps we can share info?

I still have to figure out how to get the SPC working yet. I have been tied up with other stuff so have not had a chance to play with it for a few weeks.
