new igt-s machine
« on: August 14, 2020, 04:32:49 PM »
thanks so much for your board...I have learned so much in such a short time.
I have recently purchased a Wild Diamond machine.  It first started with the error code 12.  I purchased a battery then..61..hit the reset, went to 61-1..closed the door and used the jackpot key...went to 0 for a few seconds..then back to 61...i have the clear chip and set chip on the way, but I just noticed a push-button switch on the frame of the machine..must be a door switch..it doesnt have any wires connected to it at all..the optical switches do.  Would this switch being disconnected cause the 61 loop?  I would hate to clear this without exhausting all other options.  there is also a microswitch hanging inside the door below the "spin" button that I have no idea where it goes.  Last, that same spin button only has one wire connected to it?  I don't know how it is supposed to look but usually a switch has at least 2 wires right?  lol..any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys!

That switch called the cherry switch was used to tell the casino anytime the door was opened. Hooked in with the network

Thanks for the info.  I guess that doesn't need to be connected then?  lots of plugs in the back that are just hanging, but i guess these are universal harnesses and some aren't used?  Also, any thoughts on what this switch may be for?  It is hanging on the door under the "play 3 credits" button.

The switch is off the plunger.  There are two white plastic tabs on the plunger with round bumps at the ends.  The bumps go into the holes as show on the photo.  As you push the button, the plunger moves down pushing the little rectangular switch.  You need to secure the switch to the rest of the button assembly.  Just have a look at any of the other switches that are complete to see what it should look like.

*smack*..now i see.  duh...just hope i can get the 61 loop cleared.  I guess it is normal to see three switches with no wires on them?  that cherry switch on the frame above the optical sensor, the micro switch on the inside of the cash can behind the door..and the switch behind the can itself?

There also doesn't appear to be a sample coin in your comparitor.

as you noticed, there sure wasn't..lol..I did place one after i cleared the 61 loop...I am new to this so thanks for bearing with me :-]  I do have lots of questions though...first, there are 2 windows on my wild diamonds machine to the left of the 25 cents sign.  One is the winner paid window..i know what that is, the next is the credits window.  That one never comes on.  The machine can take up to 3 quarters.  The window does light when in test so it does operate.  Second, there are also 3 buttons below that..Change (obvious) cash/credit..which lights when pressed..and Bet One Credit.  The Bet One Credit does nothing.  Should it?  Lastly, my DBV powers and makes all the normal noises when I turn on the machine, but it will not even try to grab a bill.  Did I do something wrong when I used the set chip after using the clear chip?  I got through the 9-1 spot, pressed and held reset switch on each of the following numbers:  25  100  500  1000  2000  5000  10000.  Was this done correctly?  Thanks again for all the help.

The Credits window has an LED display behind it that shows when credits have been accrued on the machine after a win.  S+ slots can operate in "cash mode" or "credit mode".  After a RAM clear, which it sounds like you did, most chips default to the cash mode where any wins are immediately dispensed from the hopper.  If you spin and win 10 credits, 10 coins are immediately dispensed from the hopper.  In credit mode, that win of 10 would be applied to the "CREDITS" meter, and you'd be able to play those credits, or cash them out.

Second, there are also 3 buttons below that..Change (obvious) cash/credit..which lights when pressed..and Bet One Credit.  The Bet One Credit does nothing.  Should it?

The answer to that is tied to the previous question and answer.  The "Change" button on your machine is the service/call attendant button, and will turn on the candle light on the top of the machine.  The cash/credit button allows you to select either cash mode or credit mode.  You mentioned it lights up.  Press it once to light it up, now play a few games.  When you get a win, instead of the machine dispensing coins immediately, the value of the win will be added to the credit meter.  If you press the cash/credit button while there are coins on the credit meter, it will dispense them.  If you have credits on the credit meter, the "Bet One Credit" button will do exactly what it says it does -- it will take one credit away from the credit meter and apply it to a new wager (the same as dropping in a coin into the coin slot).

Not quite, from your description.  You need to choose which of those denominations your machine is to be set to -- it can't be set to all of them at once.  If your machine is a quarter ($0.25) machine, you'd want the denomination set to 25.  Please follow the directions in this FAQ precisely to ensure your validator is enabled, and that you have chosen the correct denomination for your machine: http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/dbv.htm

Basically the S+ uses coins - not quarters, nickles, dollars (which are denominations)
So when you win the machine dispenses 30 coins (of whatever you have in the machine).
Whats in the machine  ??? - The sample coin is what determines what goes in.

There are a few items that also help with this such as the coin head (the metal thing on the outside where the coins go in). A dime version is small, a dollar is wide. The coin optics which uses spacers and adjustable guides to accept wider coins like nickles and dollars.
The hopper wheel needs to be the right size to handle dollars vs quarters etc.
However this is all about managing coin jams - what really makes it a quarter machine is the sample coin.
I run mine off of quarter sized tokens.

Just to be clear you need a SET chip to enable the Bill Validator.
This also sets the denomination.
It tells the DBV that its a 0.25 (or whatever you set) so when you insert a dollar you get 4 credits for the dollar.
If you set it for a penny then you get 100 credits.
You will know that the Validator is enabled because the front bezel is lit up.

The validator on the S+ has evolved as has the money it takes. I recommend using older money to start as depending on your device it may need an update.
