bally 5000 ? clear/psudo coin switch
« on: August 31, 2020, 05:52:19 PM »
i originally posted its  a bally 5500, i think now its a 5000 . two board, mpu and IO .   it has a pggyback board on the mpu.  power supply 110  input header had all 3 solder connection cracked on the board. the board mounting put pressure on the wires going in, and it cracked the joints. also replaced varta battery.  want to do a clear. manual says use psuedo coin button on door. cant find it at all.  there are two buttons on mpu , test and rrset from left to right? the cover is missing.  when it boots, both leds come on solid for a second, then they both have a flicker in unison . displays are mostly 8's.  where do i go from here?

thanksps- no keypad available
update: after replacing the varta, its only the right led on the mpu flickering. also, i think i found the psuedo coin button. on a board with the meters. there is also a toggle next to it.  i tried pressinf it with the i/o board out, no help. now im stuck. still mostly 8's in the dispalys, no changes with any button pressing
thanks

The  battery should be replaced with a 3.6 v Lithium.  Not a rechargeable Varta.

Here are some Bally 5000 clear instructions. The other option is to use clear chips.
A keypad will clear it also but the board has to be working 100%.
Hand made keypads are sold on my website.

I don't know which  battery goes into the 5000 Bally, so disregard my previous reply.

There is a Lithium battery mod recommended by Bally but I can't post the instructions here because NLG says 1,028k is to large.
The mod eliminates the leaking NiCad battery and allows the use of a CR2032 button in a socket.

j14 has multiple pins, see pic.   the jumper is where it was when i pulled the board, i havent moved it.  where does it go for the clear, and where does it go back when done?  also, next to the psuedo coin button is a toggle switch. does it matter what position its in? im guessing its the coin acceptor enable switch?

thanks

See attached for jumper clear setup.
That is the pseudo coin button on the door distribution board.
I do sell a complete manual on the S5000 wiring and board testing on my website.
