WMS BB2 non working Host/Comm port 1 and 2 AFT

Hello NLG Peeps,

I have a WMS BB2 Wizard of Oz in a BB1 cabinet, and for the life of me cannot get the host/comm port 1 or 2 to fire up. I know most of the peeps on here never use, setup and or work with the host/comm ports but I am hopping there are a few? I have this game hooked up to the IGT SAS Simulator with no response and the Host/Comm TX and RX LEDs are not lit up on the BB2 backplane. I have setup a shit ton of IGT, WMS, Bally, ect and I know the game settings are correct. I also have a few of these working in the field and know they can be setup with a host.

What I have tried...
Swapped TX and RX on the host/comm cable and double checked the ground
Cleared and set up on host/comm 1 AFT
Cleared and set up on host/comm 2 AFT
Swapped CPU
Swapped backplane
Swapped motherboard jury and bios
Swapped game theme and OS
Made sure JP1 and JP2 are on RS232 on the backplane
(I ordered another power supply and I will try that when it comes in but all the voltage LEDs are lit up.)


Any help would be appreciated.

It's possible the uarts on the backplane are bad, have you tried replacing the backplane?

Yes, I took a working BB2 backplane and put it into the Wizard and no comm. I can take the Wizard backplane and put it into another BB2 game and it works. Is there a special modification that needs to be done to put the BB2 Wizard in a BB1 cabinet?

Hello NLG Peeps,

Had another tech tell me to check P4/J23 again and sure enough the connector had a bad crimped pin or someone pulled on the wire and not the connector to remove it. I crimped a new pin on it and it still was not working, so I cleared the game one last time and the host comm lit up!
