BB2 XD-Meta
« on: July 01, 2021, 06:18:06 PM »
Hello, I'm trying to help a friend that has a BB2 XD-Meta machine that was working properly and then the top monitor went black.  He turned it off then turned the machine back on and it came up fine on the bottom screen again but the top screen is white like it is not getting a video signal.

I am going to try connecting a computer monitor with a VGA cable to it and see if I get a picture.  If I do then I believe it probably has a loose/disconnected VGA cable somewhere.  I tried connecting a laptop last night to the VGA cable coming from the monitor that normally connects to the main box and it still had only a white screen.

If I need to follow the VGA cable from one end to the monitor does anyone have any diagrams/instructions on what to do to start taking it apart without breaking anything and not remove any screws/parts that I don't have to?

As usual thanks in advance for any assistance given by the wise people here.

White screen is bad news, a bad cable will give you either no signal, or you will be missing colors.  Most likely, the monitor is bad.  May need a new A/D board at best, or the lcd matrix itself has something going on that it won't display a proper image.  I had this happen to a transmissive monitor.  I replaced the A/D board and it was still all white, so I ended up trashing it.

Hi Rick,
I'm going tomorrow to see him.  The monitor was gorgeous and bright before going black then white after the restart.

I don't know what an A/D board is, but I would appreciate any assistance on how to take the top monitor off.

I don't have an XD cabinet and have never worked on one.  The AD board is the board where the video cable plugs into.  It is the board that translates the video output from the mpu to signals the lcd panel can display.  Usually when the AD board goes bad though, you get weird looking images or no image at all, with a "no image" type message on the display.  The 2 times I've had an all white image, the lcd display itself was bad.  Both times they were a product of a voltage spike during the refurbishment process.
