Igt s2000 or igt s2000 vision display not working

Hello, I’m new to newlife and recently picked up a couple of slot machines. I have a igt S plus and I think it’s a igt s2000 vision because it has a screen on top but it’s not a bonus game…but I could be wrong. I’m having trouble with the igt S2000 machine and hopefully someone could lead me in the right direction. When I start up the machine the fluorescent lights turn on the bill validator boosts up. The reels don’t spin, neither dose the display turn on at all. And on the mother board lights 3 out of the 4 yellow lights are on and so is the green light. On the winner paid,credits and coin played I’m getting dot lights. Then after a few mins I get a “no disp” message I checked the mother board and removed the green battery “casino battery” and the other battery I replaced it with a new 3v battery. And still nothing. I checked the ribbon cable running from the display screen to the display board and it looked good with out any breaks. I ordered a a display screen and still didn’t work. I don’t know if I need a new mother board or a display board. Here are some pictures of the slot machine and motherboard. I don’t know which mother board it is. I’ve asked someone they told me it must be a 500 series but i only see 7551050 and seems like theirs a number missing. Thanks for your time newlifegames family

No Disp means the MPU can't communicate with the VFD display.  The VFD is a netplex device along with the bill validator and ticket printer.  You can try to disconnect those and see if it sees the display, but my guess is the VFD controller is probably bad. 

What is the history of this machine?  Has it ever worked?  You have a S+ SS chip and that normally is uses with a SB001000 base chip.  You have a SB000001 from my listings is for a different game theme. 

Does the upper vision display work?

I was wondering about that too.  I couldn't find a Vision SB for Triple RW&B though.  His SS chip does match a 2CM Triple RW&B (crappy 75% payback though).  Perhaps SB000001 for Visions is the equivalent of SB001000's for non-visions?  My listings show it is Times Pay Temp Rising theme though so I don't know.  That's why I asked for the history to see if it ever worked.

It belonged to my grandmother, the history is that she bought it at a auction and had it in her garage I ended up keeping it after she passed recently. From what I know is that the screen never worked or wasnt even hooked up. When I hooked it up I heard the speaks pop but just no display. When I got it, it seemed like they had it for coin play. It had coin in set up but was missing the comparitor. So I decided to take it off. Thanks for your reply. I will end up ordering a VFD board. What chip should I order for that particular game?

I thought all vision base chips began with SB000XXX and non-vision base chips are SB100XXX?

I think he just wants a SB chip for a 2cm rwb since the monitor doesn't work.  I could be wrong.

The VFD itself is probably good, the controller is usually the problem.  It's a small square board mounted on the door and a ribbon cable from the VFD will connect to it. 

A Vision machine won't play if the MPU and topbox computer do not communicate with each other.  You could probably get it working without it, but you'd have to replace the stepper game (SG) chips along with the base chip.  The base chip Mark mentioned should work provided the reel strips are the same for that and the SS chip you already have.  I'd get both a SB001000 and a SB100165 and try the SB100165 first (you have to remove the SS chip too).  If the payouts match the glass then you're all set.  If not put the SB001000 and SS chip in it and try that.  For the SG chips get a set SG000363's.  You'll also want a keychip so you can make changes to certain settings. 

First you have to fix the No Disp error though because the machine won't try to boot any further than that until it's fixed.

Found an old post from Roz (CVSlots) that indicates SB000001 allows vision machines to work with an SS chip like SB001000 does in non-vision machines.

Good find Cliff!  I noticed the glass says coins not credits, so an SS chip is probably needed for strips to line up right.  That SB100165 would probably not work.

I think you're right. 

Since the vision display isn't needed for a bonus round of some type and only displays "Good Luck" and maybe a couple of other messages I'd replace the SB000001 with a SB00100 and the SG000236's with SG000363's and then the MPU won't look for the vision computer.  It'll play just like a normal non-vision S2000.

Can you open the door, gently pull down the front of the strips of each of the three reels and give us the numbers?

There are people here that can match up and verify your reel strip numbers with the correct chip.

Of course the firs reel is 84877900 2nd reel is 84878000 and 3rd reel is 84878100
