Touch Screen Help - Bally Alpha 2
« on: November 29, 2021, 09:46:26 AM »
Hello Everyone! I could use a hand!  I purchased a 3M Touch Sensor to put on the upper 42" LCD of my Bally V22/42.  I can't find any information on the proper installation of it, and don't want to muck it up.  Where does the double sided foam tape go, which side should be forward facing, do I need to remove the existing protective glass before installing the touch screen?  I've googled, searched YouTube for help, nothing found.  I would really appreciate any help that can be provided.  Pics, part numbers, etc. are below"

3M sensor model # (to be added): 98-1100-0013-4
LG Monitor: LC420EUN-SFM1
Cabinet: Bally Alpha V22/42

I have double sided foam, acetate tape, etc., just don't know where to start.

Factory installed touchscreens are installed on top of the lcd panel. Since you already have glass to protect the LCD, I would just install the touchscreen glass on top of that glass (unless the increase thickness will cause issues with your application).  The top side of the touchscreen is the side that has the golden colored wires on the edge, that is the side of the glass that has the touchscreen matrix.

In addition to what Rick said, at the end of the cable is the touch screen controller.  Looks like it in a plastic case for protection.  So it will need to be mounted to the back of the monitor and it needs power.  Also, need to confirm what the connection is, USB or serial cable to the CPU for connectivity.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....
