There got be a better way for this

error 3100 I get this about every hundred coins or so and the only way I get rid of this I run the setup 015 chip and that's only thing that seems to clear it.  Is there another way of doing this.  Without pulling chips my chip legs can't take this for a much longer they are getting weak as are another solution to this the standard one doesn't work

Have you checked the knife and optics on your hopper. That's where I'd start anyway. The knife might need adjustment/replaced or the optics may be dirty or bad

Are you getting the 3100 when cashing out or during normal play? Or does the hopper pay all wins? If it is only during normal play check the beau plug on hopper and cabinet to make sure they are making good clean contact. I am thinking the set chip has nothing to do with it, just the hopper being reseated each time.

when I cash out only. but reset works ever time. and my legs are getting very weak on the chip from this .

Very Strange  ... To Clear a 3100, simply opening and closing the door should do the trick.    Are you sure your door optics are aligned correctly?
To save your chips legs ... Buy a dip socket for them. That way you are not putting pressure on the chip legs each time you pull or insert them.

Or they would have been gone by now. that was a super good idea.one of you had. Also o & c the door didn't work. but the optics is working when doing that. after it reset its back

Then why not set the hopper to zero and make all cash out into hand pay with jackpot key.

You should start by addressing why you are getting the 3100 Error (Extra Coin Out) to begin with.  The Hopper is the issue that is causing this problem... 
As Cowboygames stated; If your hopper knife is not adjusted correctly, it can allow an additional coin to slip out after the hopper moter shuts off.
Also check the wiring connections to and from the hopper optics to make sure they are not loose.  Make sure that the horseshoe optics are not loose.
Also make sure that your hopper is firmly seated back into it's socket.
If you have an issue with your hopper optics, or if the hopper is not seated correctly, that may be causing you not to be able to clear the 3100 code with the opening and closing of the door.
As therockinelvis stated: It may be the pulling out and re-seating your hopper that is actually allowing the 3100 to clear, not the set chip processes.

Try this ... Next time the problem occurs: Remove your Hopper then close the door without the hopper present and see if the 3100 clears.  If the error clears without the hopper, then you just need to figure out If the problem is with the hopper optics or a connection issue.  If the error is still present ... Then you have a bad MPU and you should replace it.
